A Celebration of Life for Albert Joseph, will be held Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM at MK Dixon Funeral Home in Baldwin, LA.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the commencement of the celebration at MK Dixon Funeral Home in Baldwin, LA.
Albert will be interred at Heavenly Rest Cemetery in Jeanerette, LA.
Albert Joseph, affectionately called "Daddy," "Papa" and "Al," was born on August 29, 1936, in Jeanerette, Louisiana to John Joseph and Beatrice Jackson Joseph. Albert was the fourth of five children, Leona Mae, Roy, George and Gloria Mae. All of whom preceded him in death.
Albert moved to Houston, Texas at age 17 and joined the United States Army. After his honorable discharge, Albert moved to Chicago, Illinois to pursue a greater education. He graduated from Englewood High School and soon after received a diploma from Greer Shop Training Inc., in the field of Advanced Machine Shop. Albert didn't stop there but later achieved his goal of obtaining a Stationary Engineer's License.
Albert accepted Christ as his Savior attending various churches.
On December 30, 1958, Albert married the love of his life, Kay Lynette Dillingham. From this union, four children were born. He was a faithful husband and devoted to providing for his family.
Albert retired as an Operating Engineer II from the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District on August 29, 1996, after 25 years of service. He had a strong work ethic and enjoyed the challenge of conquering obstacles to prevent city streets from flooding.
Albert was a fun-loving man who embedded his love for bowling, skating and playing softball into each of his children and grandchildren at a young age. He was also an avid lover of traveling, bike riding and playing golf. Albert was a good man who mentored young men and never missed an opportunity to lend a helping hand physically or financially to any in need.
Albert transitioned to glory on December 26, 2024. He leaves to continue celebrating his life, four children, Stephen Sr., Kevin, Rhonda and Erik; six grandchildren, Stephen Jr., Angela, Joshua (Mary), Michael Jr., Triston (Joylisa) and Alexandria; one great grandson, Camden; one brother-in-law, Floyd Hamberlin; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Albert will be especially missed by five nieces and nephews residing in and native of Jeanerette, LA including John Sillmon, Jr. (Donna Marie), Dianna Sillmon Arp (Jerry), Mark Sillmon, Barry Sillmon, Sr. (Jeanette), and Laquita Sillmon Christian. He was also preceded in death by one brother-in-law, John Sillmon, Sr.
