Baldwin, LA – Funeral services will be held for Mrs. Aldonia Louise Charles, the former Aldonia Louise Lockette, 76 at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 20, 2018 at MK Dixon Funeral Home.  Rev. Dr. Lillie Lockette will officiate the service.

Visitation will commence on Saturday at the funeral home 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service.

Interment will be in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery – Ashton, LA.

A native of Four Corners, LA and resident of Franklin, LA, she was born August 6, 1942 to the late, Louis Lockette, Sr. and the late, Leola Jacquet Lockette.  In 1962, Aldonia graduated from Willow Street High School in Franklin, LA.

Aldonia accepted Christ Jesus as her Savior at an early age.  She was a faithful Christian who always had the Lord, our Savior in her heart and on her mind.  Aldonia was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Four Corners, LA. Later in life she joined Miracle of Deliverance where she was baptized and became a member.

Aldonia became a resident of Franklin Healthcare Center in Franklin, LA in 2004 where she became well known until her earthly journey ended at 9:57 P.M. on Friday, October 5, 2018.

Aldonia was united in Holy Matrimony to Arthur Charles, Jr. And to this union five children were born who will forever remember the love of their mother and how she used to sing while she would do her house work.

Later in life Aldonia met Edward Lewis and three children were born to this union.

Aldonia was a well-known resident of Four Corners, AL and at the Franklin Healthcare Center. Everyone looked forward to seeing her beautiful smile, laughter and hearing the joyful laughter.

Aldonia never felt sorry for herself because of her trials and tribulations.  She would always call on the name of the Lord, singing songs of praise onto the Lord. She would say how glad she was to know the Lord for herself.  There was never a time you would see "Monie" as her family and friends called her, without a smile.

She leaves in God's care to celebrate her life, seven children, Michael Charles, Sr. (Terry) of Franklin, LA, Sandra (Denny Sr.) Phillips of Pasadena, MD, Troy Charles of Glenco, LA, Monica Charles of Patterson, LA, Delisicia (Dennis) Guidry of Jeanerette, LA, Christon Charles of Atlanta, GA and Johnathon Charles of Lafayette, LA; two sisters, Dorothy Lockette Prevost of Oakland, CA and Evelyn Lockette Rhodes of Houston, TX; three brothers, Louis (Rev. Dr. Lillie) Lockette, Jr., Raymond Lockette of Charenton, LA and Lionel (Arlene) Lockette of Four Corners, LA; 17 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Aldonia was preceded in death by her longtime friend, Edward Lewis; her parents, Louis and Leola Lockette, Sr.; one daughter, Lisa Marie Charles; five sisters, Rose Lockette Cashmiere, Ruby Lockette Sweat, Rita Lockette Cooper, Elizabeth Lockette Williams Joseph and Savannah Lockette Joseph Bing.
