Alvin Charatin was born on December 26, 1949 to the late Robert Charatin and Alice Phillips Charatin. He was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Maggie Conner Fine, and Cheryl Signal, four brothers, Albert Leonard, Clarence Charatin, Murphy Charatin and Herbert Charatin, and one sister-in-law, Alba Charatin.
As a child he grew up in the Ashton and Baldwin communities. He received his education in St. Mary Parish Public School System.
Alvin was a quiet and soft spoken man. He truly loved his family. He and his twin Calvin had a very close bond. They did not miss a day without talking to each other. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Gwendolyn Harris in 2003.
He leaves to cherish his life and legacy: his wife, Gwendolyn Charatin and her three children that he reared as his own, Phil Rideaux, Jr. (Angela), Reginald Rideaux, Sr. (Nicole), and Vinette Hartman (Aaron); two sisters, Joy Dell Robertson (Edmond) and Barbara Woods (Melvin); two brothers, Calvin Charatin and Robert Charatin; six grandchildren, Dominique, Mia, Reginald II, Rorry, Aarion, and Aarolyn; one sister-in-law, Esther Leonard; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who accept that his departure is heaven's gain.
