Artha Williams, Sr.

A Celebration of Life for Artha Williams, Sr. will be held Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at Little Zion Baptist Church in Berwick, La. Mask will be required.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 17, 2022 from 11:00 A.M. until the commencement of the celebration at Little Zion Baptist Church in Berwick, La.

Artha will be interred at Berwick Cemetery in Berwick, La.

Artha J. Williams Sr. was born December 1, 1951 to the late Sonny B. Williams and Otha Johnson Williams in Berwick, La. He was baptized by the late Reverend John Harris of the Belmont Baptist Church in Calumet, La.

Ryder Man, as he was known by family and friends, was a graduate of Berwick High School and later went to serve in the United States Army. He was employed by Tidewater Marines for three decades where he traveled all over the world doing what he loved, cooking! He continued his passion for cooking until his retirement. Ryder Man was the life of the party and his presence will be missed.

Artha transitioned from his earthly home December 7, 2022 where he gained a new address. He now joins in glory his parents: Sonny and Otha Williams, Sr.; His brother: Sonny Williams, Jr.; sisters: Helen Mae Williams, Patsy Williams, Vernadette Williams Griffin and Francis Williams Triggs; sister–in–law: Lillie Mae Williams; grandparents: Henry and Francis Johnson, Ed and Arella Merritt Edwards; great-grandparents, uncles, aunts and other relatives.

Artha leaves to continue his legacy his devoted sons: Artha (Dewanda) Williams of Baton Rouge, La and Curtis (April) Paul of Baton Rouge, La; two sisters: Leotha (Jessie) Griffin, Sr. of Bayou Vista, La and Thelma Dugar of Patterson, La; two brothers: Leo Williams, Sr. of Morgan City, La and James Williams, Sr. of Patterson, La; six grandchildren: Sania, Brea, Isiah, Raymond, Shawn and Shandranek; one uncle: Henry Watson of Baldwin, La; four special cousins, who were raised like brothers: Lawrence, Warner, Horace and Charles Johnson, along with a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives and many dear friends. Artha's memory will forever remain with us.
