A Celebration of Life for Berkley Henry, will be held Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Good Hope Baptist Church in Patterson, LA.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 9:00 AM until the commencement of the celebration at Good Hope Baptist Church in Patterson, LA.
Berkley will be interred at New Salem Cemetery in Patterson, LA.
Berkley Henry, affectionately known to many as “Big Mick,” was born on August 22, 1957, to Earl Gray, Sr. and Elvira M. Henry in Patterson, Louisiana, where he was also raised. Berkley dedicated over 20 years of service to Walmart. He was known as a giant, lovable human being with a heart to match. If he knew you, he rarely called you by your given name—he had a special nickname for everyone he met. He was also a devoted and diehard fan of the Raiders. On Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 7:17 p.m., Berkley was called home to glory at the Patterson Healthcare Center. He was a beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Gray, Sr. and Elvira M. Henry; grandparents, Herman Henry, Sr. and Gertrude Henry; brothers, Calvin Mitchell,Sr. and William Gray; aunts, Ana Evelyn Henry, Natalie Henry, Alberta Tate, and Ladora H. Bennett; uncles, Herman Henry, Jr.,Cornelius Tate, Sam Walls, Sr., Sam Walls, Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Berkley Jones of Morgan City, Louisiana, and Willis Verdine of Patterson, Louisiana; siblings, Patricia Gray of Patterson, Louisiana, Connie (Brian) Smith of Cedar Hill, Texas, Earl Gray, Jr. of Patterson, Louisiana, George Gray of Franklin, Louisiana, and Antoine (Gabbria) Williams of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Mary J. Mccary; sister-in-law, Sandra Mitchell; special niece, Caneisha Brooks; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
