A Celebration of Life for Bertram Tillman, will be held Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Macedonia Baptist Church in Ashton, LA.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 12:00 PM, until the commencement of the celebration at Macedonia Baptist Church in Ashton, LA.

Bertram James Tillman, affectionately known as "Bert," a native and lifelong resident of Baldwin, Louisiana, was born on January 18, 1961, to the late John Tillman, Sr. and Ernestine Vivian "Bob" Tillman.

Bert received his education through the St. Mary Parish School System, where he built lifelong friendships and developed the strong work ethic that carried him throughout his life. He later became a dedicated employee of Baldwin Redi-Mix, faithfully serving his community for many years. He was respected for his dependability, integrity, and willingness to lend a helping hand.

Bert was a loving father, proud grandfather, caring brother, uncle, and loyal friend. Family meant everything to him, and he never missed an opportunity to spend time with those he loved. His kindness, quiet strength, warm smile, and generous heart left an unforgettable impression on everyone who knew him.

He found great joy in the outdoors and loved fishing and hunting. Music was another passion of his life. Bert especially loved listening to Maze featuring Frankie Beverly. His family often joked that he believed he was Frankie Beverly because he knew every song and sang them with pride and enthusiasm. 

A passionate sports fan, Bert faithfully supported his beloved New Orleans Saints and took tremendous pride in his own BT Express Baseball Team, where he encouraged and inspired young athletes through his love of the game.

Bert was united in marriage to Victoria Jack Tillman, and together they were blessed with four children.

It is known that our Lord God never makes mistakes, and in His infinite wisdom deemed it timely on Sunday, June 28, 2026, to call His precious son to eternal rest. Bert's departure leaves a deep and personal loss to all who loved him and who were blessed to share precious moments in his life.

Although he will be sorely missed, there is peace in knowing that we can confidently say, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." Bert left behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a legacy of love, laughter, unwavering devotion, and faithfulness to his family and friends.

Bertram was preceded in death by his parents, John Tillman, Sr. and Ernestine Vivian Tillman; wife, Victoria Jack Tillman; daughter, Tomiko Jack; sister, Priscilla Davis; brothers, Craig Tillman and Henry Lee Tillman Sr.; nephews, Albert Davis, Jr. and Sedrick Tillman, Sr.; great nephew, Cahy'vion Alexander; and dear friend, Debra Dominick, whose friendship brought him comfort and joy.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his loving and devoted children, Derrick (Patricia) Jack of Port Arthur, Texas; Eric Jack and Alicia Jack, both of Ashton, Louisiana; cherished grandchildren, Deontrey Jack, Da Vonetrae Jack, Dontae Jack, and LaDerricka Lemon, Taihyila Dominick; brothers and sisters, Frederick Paul (Gloria) Tillman, Patricia (Conrell) Collins, John, Jr. (Iris) Tillman, Kenneth Tillman, and Paulette Tillman; loving aunts, Rosemary Tillman and Betty Tillman; sister-in-law, Jacqueline Tillman; brother-in-law, Albert Davis (Lydia); special nieces, Paris Davis-Alexander, Terri Alexander, and Errickkeyona Navy-Minix (Jarvis); special nephew and son at heart, Dandrick Jack; special friends, whom he cherished like brothers, Elcondas Davis and Herman Jack; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, coworkers, teammates, neighbors, and lifelong friends who will forever treasure his memory.

Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we celebrate a life well lived. Bert's legacy lives on through the love he gave, the lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the memories he created. Whether casting a fishing line, cheering on the Saints, coaching baseball, singing along with Frankie Beverly, or simply enjoying the company of family and friends, Bert embraced life with authenticity and joy.

His love will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew him, and his memory will continue to inspire all who were blessed to call him family and friends.
