Brian "Big Roach" Smith

A Celebration of Life for Brian "Big Roach" Smith, will be held Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 1:00 PM at St. Moses Baptist Church in Jeanerette, LA.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 11:00 AM until the commencement of the celebration at St. Moses Baptist Church in Jeanerette, LA.

Brian will be interred at Sorrel Cemetery in Sorrel, LA.

Mr. Brian Keith Smith, was born to the late Orelia Boatman-Smith and Frank Smith, Sr., on March 29, 1966.  Our heavenly Father called him home to rest on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.

He was a native of Franklin, LA and a resident of Sorrel, LA.  Brian accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. He was a 1985 graduate of Gary Job Corps in San Marcos, TX. He was well known to many as "Big Roach."

Brian married Phyllis Gabriel-Smith in March of 2001. He was employed by Walmart in Bayou Vista, LA for eight years. He loved spending quality time with his family and friends but loved to watch his football. We all know his favorite team was the New Orleans Saints!

He was devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, friend, and co-worker.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 24 years of marriage and 32 years of togetherness, Phyllis Gabriel-Smith of Sorel, LA ; three daughters, Bria ' Shatay Brown of Franklin, LA,  Connian Onae Gabriel, Jasmane Shonte ' Gabriel both of Sorrel, LA; one son, Harvey Tramaine Gabriel of Carencro, LA; three sisters, Debra Ann Mcfarlane, Shelia Lyn Smith, Chandra Monique Smith (Monie) all of Franklin, LA; three brothers, Charles Ray (Jackie)Smith of  Lafayette, LA; Kenneth Smith and Barry James (Jenevra) Smith of Franklin, LA; three grandchildren, Mi'jhoi John Edwards (Tigg) of Sorrel LA, Harlow Tramaine Gabriel , and Harvi Grace Gabriel of Carencro LA; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives,  and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal and paternal grandparents; three brothers; one brother-in-law; two sisters; and one nephew. He will truly be missed by all who knew him!
