Calvin Wilson A.K.A "Bill Dickie" was born on April 16, 1941 in Baldwin, La to Fradie Wilson and Francis Lanceslin-Wilson. He attended school at G.W. Hamilton at an early age.
Calvin was a dedicated employee of Zapata Corporation. He was a fast learner and began exploring the waters of the Gulf of Mexico when he was an adolescent. He worked long hours on large fishing vessels, casting nets into the ocean to capture tons of various types of fish for the companies growing business.
He lived in Lake Charles, La helping to raise his girls up until the year of 1984 when he returned back home to care for his mother. He held a close bond with many of his siblings, nieces, and nephews. Each day he routinely visited his loved ones whether it was enjoying a hot cup of coffee and breakfast early in the morning or sitting around conversing with friends and family, is what he cherished the most. Calvin brought life and laughter wherever he ventured and embraced everyone with his smile.
An avid fan of the Oakland Raiders football team since 1971 he was excited and passionate about each new season of the game. He took an interest in the Dallas Cowboys football team and also the Golden State Warrior basketball team. In his leisure time, he loved playing music such as gospel, blues, and jazz. He read his Bible daily and also enjoyed reading poetry or books about medical health remedies. Oftentimes, you may see him doing yard work or riding his bike throughout the community.
Calvin is preceded in death by both parents, his brother Nathaniel Wilson and Shirley Mae Wilson. He is survived by his brothers, Fradie Wilson, Alvin Wilson, Conrad Wilson, and Randy Lanceslin, his sisters, Lillie Maxie, Marion Poullard, Silvia Brown, and Priscilla Hudson. He was blessed to be a loving father to five beautiful daughters: Lisa LeCompte-Thornton, Crystal Johnson, Joyce Wilson, Frances Wilson, and Alice Wilson, fourteen grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren. He leaves to cherish a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Final arrangements have been entrusted by MK Dixon Funeral Home, 337-940-9253, 211 Main Street, Baldwin, LA 70514.
