Charles Morgan, Sr.

Charles E Morgan, Sr. was born to the late Charlie and Minister Augusta Morgan on July 22, 1945 in Franklin, La. He was reared on Adline Plantation and grew up in a Christian home. He was baptized at an early age by the late Rev. Octave Vincent,Sr. at Triumph Baptist Church.

On December 24, 1968, he was united in holy matrimony with Norma Burrell- Morgan, to this union three children were born, Chontel, Chontrell, and Charles, Jr.. He was enlisted in the United States Air Force and served in the Vietnam War as a military police officer. He was a faithful member of Triumph Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Octave Vincent, Sr., the late Rev. Walter Moore, the late Rev. Clarence Stewart, Sr. and the present Rev. Carl F. Lewis, Sr.  and served on the trustee board. He worked in the oil production field for 46 years until retirement in 2017.

On Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 8:29 P.M. at Franklin Foundation Hospital, he peacefully transitioned to his heavenly home. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, parrain and friend.

Memories of Charles will remain in the hearts of his six daughters, Chontel Morgan Lee, Chontrell (Joseph)  Favors, Ireion Morgan, Azireion Verdun, and Kharlei Morgan all of Franklin, La and Nicole Nico of Jonesboro, GA.; his grandchildren, Charleston, A'Nyrion, Kaeitlin, Cory Jr., Quincy,Breyana, Arieyana, and Jocelynn; great grandchildren, Channing, Chance, Kayden, Milo, and Ky'lin; bonus grandchildren, Alj'rae, Tyajah, Tlayah, Mikeyonte, Kebreonte,and Christopher; five bonus sons, Gralyn Carr, Norman Jones, Troy Jones, Mark Bell and Larry Craig; three sisters, Clara Wade, Dorothy Archield, and Hilda Morgan all of Houston, TX; two brothers, Abe and Abron Morgan of Houston, TX; seven sisters-in-law, Laura Burrell of Orlando, FL, Mable Jean Burrell of Houston, TX, Barbra & Viola Burrell of Baldwin, LA, Jackie Mcdaniel(Lynn) Clark, Marilyn Edwards, and Hattie Johnson Burrell of Franklin,La; six brothers-in-law, George (Isabella) Burrell of Bossier City, La, David Burrell Houston, TX, James and Freddie Burrell both of Baldwin, LA, Alvin (Sandra) Burrell and Carlton Burrell all of Franklin, La. 16 godchildren; Barbra Matthews, Leonard Washington Sr, Elana Stackhouse, Tina Perkins, Tyandria Burrell, Norman Jones, Derrick Mille, Darnita McDaniel Rivers, Michel'le Green, Acacia Freeman, Wesley Simmons, JonMario Jackson, Carolyn Burrell, Azeidra Notto, L'oreal Rawls, and Dalyn Smith; devoted friends, Maryann Conley, John Maze, Wesley Williams, Donald Scooby Brown and Raymond Francis.

Charles was proceeded in death by his wife, Norma Burrell Morgan, his son, Charles E. Morgan Jr, one grandson, Charles Morgan III, his parents, one brother, Andrew Jackson, two sisters, Charlene Morgan and Rosemary Hall, bonus son, Calvin "Bubba" Burrell, five brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law, and a host of family and friends.
