Charlotte Marie "Bussie" Clavelle-Hopes, was born on October 23, 1949, to the late Raymond & Pearl Clavelle. On May 30, 2022, Charlotte transitioned to her heavenly reward. She married Elton Hopes, Sr., where they welcomed two kids; a beloved daughter, Annfernetta Hopes-Jackson, and a precious baby boy, Elton Hopes, Jr.
"Bussie" was baptized at an early age, where she remained a faithful member at Morning Pilgrim Baptist Church. There she participated in senior choir and taught V.B.S. She also was apart of the Sunday school ministry.
She was a bright spirited person, and very straight forward. She was a mother to most and a friend to all. She loved listening to her music and sitting outside with family and friends. She read her Bible daily, her favorite scripture was Psalms 46-10 "Be still and know that I am God." She lived a great life. If she were here with us today, she would say "Dry your eyes. I've fought a good fight, I've made peace with God." "It is time for everyone to come together, so we can meet again on the other side."
She leaves to cherish her memories her baby boy, Elton (Lakeshia) Hopes, Jr. of Abbeville, LA; her sisters, Romona (James, "T.K.") Alexander and Wilmetta (Larry) Phillips of Jeanerette, LA, and Mary Bell Teague of Atlanta, GA; two granddaughters, she reared as her own, Jaszmon Williams and Javiontrane "Nae" Jackson of New Iberia,LA; grandchildren, Schronte Hopes, Sr., and Tavion Hopes of Jeanerette, LA, Annfernetta El'Tane Ishaian Hopes of Port Arthur, TX, and Sa'Myiah Hopes of Abbeville, LA; great grandchildren, Riley Jackson, Schronte Hopes, Jr., Skylar Hopes, and A'Mori Stewart; one goddaughter, Alexis A. Anthony of Jeanerette, LA; two best friends, Joyce Marie Gage and Rebecca Bowles; and a host of nieces, nephews, MPBC family, relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Pearl Clavelle; one daughter, Annfernetta Hopes Jackson; three sisters, Georgia Rhine, Pearl Robertson, and Clara Ann Smith; two nephews, Bernard "Tiger" Hall, Jr. and Melvin "Boo" Rhine, Jr.
