Clayton Marcellas Richard, lovingly known as Lil Clayton, was born November 29, 1943, in Franklin, Louisiana, to the late Clayton Rivers Richard and Fabiola Hudson Richard. He was educated in the St, Mary Parish School system. He was baptized at an early age at Trinity United Methodist Church in Baldwin, Louisiana. In 1963 Clayton was drafted in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1965.
Clayton married Lillie Mae Tardy, on April 29, 1967. Shortly after marriage Clayton moved to New Orleans, Louisiana where he resided most of his adult life. Clayton was always known as a hard worker. He was an entrepreneur and also worked in the air conditioning and refrigeration field. Shortly after Hurricane Katrina Clayton moved back to Franklin, Louisiana where he resided until his earthly departure. .
In the early morning hours on April 19, 2020, God called his precious son home. Clayton was the oldest of 15 siblings and will be sorely missed.
Left to cherish his fond memories are: his loving wife of 52 years,Lillie Mae Richard, mother, Virgie Druilhet Richard, one son Richard (Wanda Stelle) Payne of New Orleans, Louisiana, three grandchildren Cedrick Jones, Richard Payne Jr., and Shania Payne of New Orleans, Louisiana. Seven brothers: Russell (Maddie) Richard of Austin, Texas, Kenneth Richard and Lenneth (Terry) Richard of Seattle, Washington, Marlon (Cloressa) Druilhet, Chadrick (Lashawn) Druilhet, Bradford Richard and Alden (Shante) Richard all of Baldwin, Louisiana. Five sisters; Fabiola (the late Melvin) Price of Dallas, Texas, Tammy (Tariq) Abdul'aziz of Midland, Texas, Summer (Jeremy) Pradia Sr. of Arlington, Texas, Angelika (Patrick) Jones Sr. and Amber (Sedrick) Tillman Sr. both of Baldwin, Louisiana. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Clayton was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Clayton Todd "Menew" Richard and Donald Ray (Sandra) Richard Sr.
