On Sunday, September 7, 2025, God sent His angels to deliver Curtis James Lockett to his eternal resting place.
Curtis James Lockett, the second born son to Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Lockett Jr., was born October 8, 1937. He was baptized in the Catholic faith and accepted our Lord and Savior,
Jesus Christ, as his Redeemer. He was a proud member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and a devoted member of the St. Peter the Apostle Knights 124, where he served faithfully alongside his brothers in Christ.
Curtis was a talented and hardworking man. He was a lifelong cement finisher, a residential home remodeler, and a house flipper. Curtis loved visiting the Southern University campus and tailgating, always bringing laughter and joy to those around him. He found peace and happiness in his garden, where he nurtured life with the same care he gave to his family and friends. A man of service, he delighted in helping others whenever he could.
He also enjoyed the simple pleasures, fishing on a quiet day, working on his antique cars and his RV, and spending time with the people he loved most. Curtis was truly an all-around man, full of life, generosity, and love, who cherished every moment, and every person God placed in Curtis also loved to enjoy a good time; he was often the life of the party, bringing energy, laughter, and joy wherever he went. Whether on the dance floor or simply surrounded by loved ones, you could always count on him to be smiling, dancing, and making every moment brighter. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted fiancée, Belinda Stewart; his children, Wilbur Lockett (Angel) of Nashville, Tennessee; Perez Robertson of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Karen Sue Doucet (Johnwald) of Sorrel, Louisiana; Bobby Harris of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Timika Sparrow (Rodrick) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and Rodney Vincent (Christina) of Houston, Texas. Curtis also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel & Alexander Lockett,Jr.; sons, Gregory Bourgeois and Darren Vincent; daughter, Cynthia Lockett; brothers, Alexander Lockett III, William James Lockett, Sr., and Alvin Joseph Lockett; sisters, Doris Ann Williams, Sedonia Marie Joseph, and Elizabeth Lockett Jackson.
