Curtis Charles Steward, Sr.

A Celebration of Life for Bro. Curtis Charles Steward, Sr. will be held Saturday, February 27, 2021, 11:00 AM at Paradise Baptist Church, 4390 Fannett Rd, Beaumont TX. Rev. Edison Colbert, Jr. Pastor, Rev. Carl Lewis, Sr., Eulogist.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 27, 2021, from 9:00 AM until the commencement of the service at Paradise Baptist Church.

Bro Steward will be interred in Live Oak Memorial Park, Beaumont, TX.

Curtis Charles Steward, Sr. was born May 23, 1936 in St. Mary Parish, Louisiana, to the union of the late James Steward, Sr. and Mary Miller Steward. On March 1, 1958, he was united in holy matrimony to the late Dorothy Dorsey, and to this union, five children were born.

Curtis moved to Beaumont, Texas, and united with Bethel Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Pastor G. W. Winters. He accepted Christ as his personal savior and subsequently united with East Mt. Olive Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Carl F. Lewis, Sr., where he worked diligently with Food Bank.

He will be forever cherished by his son, Calvin Steward; his daughter, Carolyn Steward Lewis; one brother, Henry Steward; one sister, Cleotha Murdock; two brothers-in-law, Murray "Bonnie" Dorsey and Rev. Isaiah Perro ; two sisters-in-law, Audrey Steward and Dorothy C. Dorsey; a son-in-law, Rev. Carl F. Lewis, Sr.; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Steward; four special men he loved as his own, Ronald Phillips, Sr., Leroy Jones, Jessie Franklin, and Shawn Johnson; a special friend whom we all grew to love, Burnitta Eglin; 19 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Curtis was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Dorsey Steward; two sons, Curtis Charles Steward, Jr. and Quentin Keith Steward; one daughter, Lorrie Ann Steward Colbert Francis; his parents, James Steward, Sr. and Mary Miller Steward; one brother, James Steward, Jr.; and two sisters, Mary Strother and Maggie Robertson.
