Funeral Service for Cynthia Span will be held Saturday, August 18, 2018, 11:00 AM, at MK DIXON Funeral Home, 211 Main Street, Baldwin, LA 70514. Rev. John Davis will officiate the service.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 18, 2018, from 9:00 AM until the commencement of the funeral service at MK DIXON Funeral Home.

She will be interred in Charity Baptist Church Cemetery, St. Joseph, LA

Cynthia Span died August 12, 2018, after a brief stay at St. Joseph Hospice of Lafayette, La. with her family at her side.

A native and lifelong resident of Franklin, Cynthia Span was born on August 7, 1950, to the late Lawrence Layton, Sr. and Glenn Louise Layton. In 1969, Cynthia graduated from Park Avenue High School. Cynthia was a dedicated Christian from an early age. She continued her devotion to GOD through her baptism by the Reverend Albert Wiggins at St Joseph Baptist Church in Franklin. Cynthia was a faithful servant under the leadership of Reverend Anthony Mitchell and Reverend John Davis. Cynthia was not a spectator while in church but, had active roles as church secretary, treasurer, and motivational speaker. She would attend other churches in the surrounding areas with her pastor to offer inspirational speeches about her love for the LORD and how the Bible is related to current and past events. Cynthia spread her love of GOD until she could no longer do so physically.

Cynthia married Jules Span, Jr. on July 1, 1972. Carla Span of Lafayette, La. and Martina Span of Franklin, La. was the result of their union.

Cynthia always had the support of family members such as her devoted Aunt, Albertine Layton Washington and siblings Jennifer Gibson, John Layton, Deborah Hayes, Rod Taylor, and Lawrence Layton, Jr. Her best friend, Maudrey August. Cynthia was truly blessed.

Cynthia was preceded in death by her husband Jules Span, Parents, Glenn and Lawrence Layton Sr., brother, Reggie Layton all of Franklin, La.
