Daniel "Slim" Blanks

A Graveside Celebration of Life for Daniel Blanks will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2020, 2:00 PM at Perpetual Park Cemetery, Franklin, LA, with Rev. Ulysses Mitchell officiating.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 15, 2020, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at MK Dixon Funeral Home.

Daniel "Slim" Blanks was born 1946 to Elsie Blanks-James and Joseph James Sr. He was baptized at and early age by the late Rev. Ben Milton. He was one of 15 children.

He moved to Houston Tx. In 1967 where he spent most of his life, until 2007 "Slim" return home. Later he joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church under Pastor Noah Smith. He was a member of the Male Chorus and Sr. Choir.

On September 12, 2020 Daniel departed this life at Lafayette General Hospital.His wonderful spirit will live on in each and every one of our hearts.

Daniel leaves to cherish his precious memories to (7) sisters: Letha Blanks, Shirley Blanks, Mary Bourgeois, Susie (Warren) Hines, Martha James, Alice James, Michelle Landry (Chucky) , (2) brothers : Walter Blanks Sr., Batiste James all of Franklin, La. (1) sister-in-law Eleanor Small, (1) brother-in-law Robert Foster Sr. both of Franklin, La.  (1) Godson Derrick Wise Jr. (1) Goddaughter Linda (Pamela)Bourgeois

He was preceded in death by his parents Elsie Blank-James and Joseph James Sr., His wife Georgiana Blanks, (1) son Johnathan Blanks, (1) daughter Keshia Blanks (3) sisters: Emma Johnson, Salena James-Milton, Lillian Blanks (5) brothers; Joseph James Jr., Roy James, Alvin Small, Frank Small, nieces, nephews, and other family members.
