This scripture is the guide by which Darrell Edward Collins lived. Darrell was born on August 17, 1960, to the union of the late Conrell Sr. and Eliza Patrick Collins in Lafayette, Louisiana. Darrell’s family affectionately called him “Kool Black Man”.

The memories of Darrell are mixed with words of wisdom and laughter. Darrell was a “Brother indeed”. He was not one to gossip but had this smooth way of passing a message along, as that’s what they said, or “Breaking News” with a motion of a raise hand. He was a Who Dat Saints fan, win or lose. He was a family man and love to make the phone calls to family members, only to pass the phone to others who were around. Darrell knew how to make everyone feel special, just by the way he sounded out your name. One of the funniest memories of Darrell told was he once skipped school with a friend, only to flag down the wrong car, his mother’s.

Darrell attended Franklin Senior High School. He worked as a Welder in fabrication until his retirement due to his illness. He was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Darrell lived with the purpose of caring for his parents and others. He was always loving, smiling, friendly, always quiet, but Kool. He welcomed everyone.

Darrell leaves to forever cherish his memory, his children, Roy Nora of Broussard, LA, Ella Barnes (Earl), Fredrick Nora of New Iberia, LA, his wife, Cheryl Ann Davis-Collins of Franklin, LA, children he loved as his own Deneddrick Davis, Kemarshae Davis, and Divantranae Davis of Franklin, LA; 24 grandchildren; 14 Great Grandchildren, A beloved niece, LaQuanta Collins Cleary, his priceless jewel, proudly known to him as “Q.” six Sisters, Virginia “Ginny” Collins of Breaux Bridge, LA, Iris (John, Jr.) Tillman of Baldwin, LA, Sherry Ann Madison of Rayne, LA, Sharon Gert (Lonzie) Johnson of Houston, TX, Jennifer (Dean) Lanceslin of Baldwin, LA. Renelle (Anthony) Freeman of Houston, TX, four brothers, Gerald (Marie) Collins of St. Martinville, LA. Conrell, Jr. (Patricia) Collins of Franklin, LA, Cecil (Viline) Collins of Houston, TX; David (Tameka) Collins of Houston , TX. One maternal uncle, Edward (Olivia Sue), Patrick of Four Corners, LA, one aunt, Barbara L. Patrick of Charenton, LA, and a host of dear nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends and his church family.

Darrell was preceded in death by his loving parents, Conrell, Sr and Eliza Patrick Collins, one brother Kenneth Collins, Sr., two sisters, Sandra Collins and Annette Collins Randall, paternal grandparents, Richard and Virginia Baptiste Collins, maternal grandparents, Edward Sr. and Gertrude Latulas Patrick.
