A Celebration of Life for Donald "Lil" Miller will be held Saturday, August 3, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at MK Dixon Funeral Home in Baldwin, LA.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 3, 2024, from 11:00 A.M. until the commencement of the celebration at MK Dixon Funeral Home in Baldwin, LA.
Donald will be interred at New Salem Cemetery in Patterson, LA.
Donald Lee Miller, was born on November 30, 1953 in New Orleans, LA to the union of the late Harry Palmer Miller and Australia Gims Miller. The youngest and the smallest of a set of twins, he was given the nickname, "Lil" by his father.
Donald started his professional career as a teenager by getting a job as the maintenance person at Patterson post office, a job he passed on to his twin. He went on to become a welder at EJ Fields Machine Works, Inc. in Morgan City, LA. Donald held his welding position for over 40 years until his retirement in 2015.
On Sunday, July 28, 2024, Donald departed from labor to rest following a lengthy illness.
He leaves to cherish his memories his children, Donald(Jessica) Gray, Dontrell Miller both of Morgan City, LA, Derrick Turner of Birmingham , AL; stepdaughters, Shamika(Clarence) Francois of Lafayette, LA and Dominique Turner of Houston, TX; siblings, Ronald "Big" Miller, Harry Irving both of Patterson, LA, Jacquelyn "Jackie" Miller of Jeanerette, LA, Carolyn (Leonard) Jack of Houston, TX, Bettie Alexander of Seattle, WA; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents, Betty Eugene and Norther Gims; paternal grandparents, John and Meg Watson; sister, Catherine Thomas; brothers, Lawrence Darnell, Sr., and Clarence "Four Corners" Gims.
