Funeral Service for Drucella Bowie will be Saturday, March 16, 2019, 12:00 Noon at Macedonia Baptist Church, Ashton, LA. Apostle Edward Williams will officiate the service.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at Macedonia Baptist Church.
She will be interred in Special Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.
On March 7, 2019, Drucella Bowie was called home at Teche Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Drucella affectionally known as "MaMe" loved fishing and spending time with friends and family. She was a true Entrepreneur; running a beauty shop out her mother's kitchen keeping all the kids, relatives and friend's hair pressed and curled. MaMe was also Co-Owner/Operator "Mom & Pop's Grocery" in Freetown, La.
Drucella Bowie was the sixth of ten children born September 22, 1939 in Ashton, Louisiana to the union of Bertha Lewis Bowie & Gus "Stimey" Bowie, Sr. She accepted Christ at an early age under leadership of Rev. Castle at Mount Olive Baptist Church & was a lifelong resident of St. Mary Parish.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bertha Lewis Bowie & Gus Bowie, Sr.; five brothers: Clarence Bourgeois, Sr, Ivory Bowie, Sr, Roosevelt Bowie, Gus Bowie, Jr. and Alton Lewis; three sisters: Della Mae Bowie-Washington, Barbara Bowie-Washington and Geraldine Bowie; One daughter Cynthia Marie Bowie; Two sons Kenneth James Bowie; Donald Bowie and One sister-in-law Ezora Mae Bowie.
She leaves to cherish in her memory four daughters: Patricia Washington (Raymond) of New Orleans, La; Cheryl Bowie (Dale) and Ezolia (Troy) Washington of Franklin, La; Stephanie (Billy) Brown of Bayou Vista, La; three sons: Micheal Bowie of Baldwin, La; Barron Bowie of Morgan City, La. & Darrell (Twana) Bowie of Charenton, La.; one god-child Danika Bowie of Jeanerette, La.; one sister Jane Bowie of Franklin, La.; one brother McKinnley Bowie, Sr of Houston, Texas; three lifelong friends Shirley Hamilton-Lewis of Four Corners, La.; Ernestine Williams-Joseph of St. Martinville, La & Essie Blanco of Berwick, La; Twenty-seven Grandchildren, Fifty-one Great Grandchildren and three Great-Great Grandchildren. A host of nieces and nephews; relatives and friends who will dearly miss her presences.
