A Celebration of Life for Durall "Tat" Alexander, Sr. will be held Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 12:00 P.M. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Jeanerette, Louisiana. Mask will be required.
He accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Jeanerette, LA attending Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and other church activities.
He was a graduate of Franklin Sr. High School and attended Pearl River Community College in Poplarville, Mississippi. Durall's employment history included Twin Brothers and St. Mary Parish School Board; he also helped coach the football team at Franklin Jr. and Sr. High.
Durall married the love of his life, Takella Roberson, and together they made a home in Franklin, LA for eight children; seven boys and one girl. 'Tat' as he was known to everybody, loved his family and enjoyed cooking for them as well as for his neighbors and friends … gathering much of his food from his own private garden. In his community he was jokingly considered 'the Mayor of James St.
'Tat's jovial personality was his super-power! He encountered nearly everybody with a hearty laugh and fun conversation. Durall's free spirit was welcoming and made everyone feel comfortable. His love for football made him an avid Eagles fan. 'Tat' was truly a people person and met everyone with a smile.
On January 12, 2022, Durall 'Tat' Alexander, Sr., departed this life and entered eternal peace. He now joins his father, Fredrick Alexander; his maternal grandparents, Harold and Odessa Rener; and his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Gloria Alexander.
He leaves to mourn his passing, as well as cherish his memories, his devoted wife, Takella Roberson Alexander, sons, Jarmontay Roberson, Tevin Harris, Dontrell Charles, Trevontay Kelly, Laquint Roberson, Jaylon Roberson, and Durall Alexander, Jr.; two daughter Aria Alexander and Taja Jack; his mother, Cynthia Rener Alexander; one sister, Dekisha Alexander Francis (Nicholas), Cedrick Alexander (Alexis), Darian Alexander (Debra) Fredrick Alexander (Alicia), Reginald Whitehead (Nikki) and Clifford Carter. His mother and father-in-law, Rev. Charles Spain and Debra Roberson Spain and father-in-law, Darrell Harrison; sisters-in-law Chakeyta Anderson (Rev. Jules), TaKeasha White (Terrance), Summer Boutte; brothers-in-law Israel Spain (Megan), Sydney Boutte, Gerren Roberson, and Roydric Roberson; God-parents, Naomi Rener Harding and Kenneth Lee; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 'Tat' will be missed by all who knew him.
