Earl will be interred at Morning Pilgrim Cemetery in Jeanerette, Louisiana.
Earl "Big Pat" Williams was born on March 15, 1967 in Lafayette, La to the late John Nelson, Jr. and Irene Nerve. Along with Earl's mother, Irene, he was reared by his bonus day, Polite Nerve. He lived in Jeanerette, La most of his life and had recently relocated to Abbeville, La. Earl was promoted to glory after a lengthy illness on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Oschner Lafayette General Hospital.
Earl, also known as "Big Pat" or "Smoke" left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. Earl made a positive impact on many people. He was fun to be around and you felt joy and happiness when you were in his presence. Earl was the life of the party and he loved to make people happy. He was well known as a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan. He traveled often throughout his life and almost everywhere he went he encountered someone he knew.
Earl loved his family and friends, especially his children and grandchildren. He valued his time with them and they loved when he was around. They woukld often say, he knew how to bring sunshine to a rainy day. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, being an amazing father and grandfather, and as a man who provided for his family.
Earl's memory will forever remain in the hearts of his companion; Melissa Alexander; one daughter, Shanna Jones (Craig) of Jeanerette, La; five sons, Damien Matthews and Tramien Matthews, Sr., (Shamesha) both of Jeanerette, La Jerrell Hall (Jessica) of New Iberia, La, Aaron Lightfoot (Riashia), and Davonte' Matthews (Noltavia) both of Franklin, La; two sisters, Lawanda Robertson (Dalane) of Jeanerette, La, and Sherry Collins of New Iberia, La; six brothers, Stacey Nerve, Sr.(Yvonne) of Jeanerette, La, John Collins, Jr. and Johnathon Taylor both of New Orleans, La, Michael Collins, Morris Collins, and Dawayne Moore, all of New Iberia, La; four godchildren, Terry Charles, Tyrusha Charles, Arlee Fiest, and Eric Lewis; six stepchildren, Reva Lightfoot (Shane) of Franklin, La, Haily, Donald, and Ricky Richard all of Youngsville, La, Paige Davis (Johnny) and DeJohn Alexander both of Abbeville, La; two aunts, Mary Ann Charles (David) of Jeanerette, La, and Betty Marks (George) of New Orleans, La; one uncle, Luther Charles (Shirley) of Jeanerette, La; 24 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Earl was preceded in death by his biological father, John Nelson, Jr.; his mother, Irene Nerve; his bonus dad, Polite Nerve; one sister, Arlene Williams; maternal grandparents; Leroy Sr. and Marjorie Charles; paternal grandparents; Morris and Theresa Collins; two aunts, Hazel Penns and Diane Charles; one uncle, Leroy Charles, Jr.; and one godchild, Ulyess "Teddy" Spencer.
