A Celebration of Life for Elridge Hoskins, Jr., will be held Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at St. Moses Baptist Church in Jeanerette, LA.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 22, 2024, from 11:00 A.M. until the commencement of the celebration at St. Moses Baptist Church in Jeanerette, LA.
Elridge will be interred at Sorrel Community Cemetery in Sorrel, LA.
Elridge Leroy "Pop" Hoskins, Jr. was born to the late Louise "Bojo" and Elridge Hoskins, Sr. on October 12, 1952, in Sorrel, LA.
On June 8, 2024, at (8:15 P.M.), he transitioned through the pearly gates to his forever heavenly home in the presence of family at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center.
Pop accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age, he was baptized at St. Moses Baptist Church and served as a member in the male chorus under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. A.D. Teno, Jr. He continued his Christian journey under the leadership of Rev. Edward Jordan. He then continued building his personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ until the very end.
He attended and earned his high school diploma from Franklin Sr. High in 1972. Pop was employed by St. Mary Parish School Board as a custodial worker until his retirement.
Pop was proceeded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents, Wesley Gabriel and Marjorie Johnson- Gabriel; paternal grandparents, Laura Hoskins and Joseph Elijah Hoskins, Sr.; one aunt who was more like a mother, Dorothy "Nunnie" Gabriel; one bonus uncle, Chester Johnson; one sister Diana H. Daye; one great niece, Caayah D. Lewis, along with other beloved family members.
He leaves to cherish his forever memories, his beloved Stephanie Madina of Lafayette, LA; one daughter, Fallon Hoskins August (Daryl) of Sorrel, LA; one son, Elridge D. Hoskins (Latanya); four grandchildren, Ellan and Aubrey Hoskins of Lafayette, LA, Laila and Bailey August of Sorrel, LA; two sisters, Carolyn Hoskins of Sorrel, LA, Cynthia Gabriel of Maurice, LA; one brother, Eric Hoskins of Jeanerette, LA; two nieces, Chalyn Lewis (Courtney) of Sorrel, LA, Deatra McBride of New Iberia, LA; two nephews, Jamaal L. Daye of Port Republic, MD, Darrell C. Traylor, Jr. of Sorrel, LA; two great aunts, Doretha Wilson of Beaumont, TX, and Gloria Gabriel of Houston, TX; three aunts, Barbara Henderson of Manvel, TX and Ora Keal of Sorrel, LA; Gloria Johnson of Franklin, LA; one uncle Carl Jones of LaPorte, TX; bonus mom, Rose Tillman of Houston, TX; two godchildren, Brittany Jackson of Alexandria, LA, Terylon Booth of Baton Rouge, LA; eight great nieces and nephews; adopted family members two daughters, Chastity James of Lafayette, LA, Shonte' Auguster (Wendell) of Houston, TX; five grandchildren, Gabrielle Robertson, Jania Robertson of Lafayette, LA, Kyle Williams, Kylie Morgan, Sean Auguster of Houston, TX; one sister, Tessie Jackson (Joseph) of Jeanerette, LA; one brother, Willie Edwards (Alfredia) of Franklin, LA; four great grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends who will truly miss his presence.
