A Celebration of Life for Geanetta Sereal Johnlouis will be Saturday, April 8, 2017, 11:00 AM, at St. Moses Baptist Church, 20315 Hwy 182, Jeanerette, LA (Sorrel). Bishop B.K. Stevens, pastor, Rev. A L Alexander, officiating.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 8, 2017, from 8:30 AM until the commencement of the funeral service.
She will be interred in St. Mark Cemetery, Jeanerette, LA.
Geanetta Sereal Johnlouis was born August 4, 1946, to the late Wilmer Sereal, Sr., and Louise Wesley Sereal. Geanetta accepted Christ in her life at an early age and was baptized by the late Reverend Clay at Morning Pilgrim Baptist Church in Jeanerette, Louisiana. Geanetta married Peter Calvin Johnlouis, Sr., and was a devoted wife for 51 years. She graduated from Boley High School in Jeanerette, Louisiana.
She worked at the airport base for many years, then became a housewife. After her mother passed, she raised her brothers and sisters, along with her husband's brothers and sisters, plus, many other family members.
She departed this life peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, April 2, 2017, at her home in Jeanerette, Louisiana, after a lengthy illness. Geanetta's legacy of family and love is shown through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those she has touched within her lifetime.
Geanetta leaves to cherish: her devoted husband of 51 years, Peter Calvin Johnlouis, Sr.; four sons, Peter Calvin, Jr., Jarvish (Christie), Lee Authur (Sharlet) Johnlouis, of Jeanerette, LA, and Alfonzo Johnlouis, of New Iberia, LA; six daughters, Earline (Howard) White, Ursula (David) Thomas, Elnora, Charlene, Darlene Johnlouis of Jeanerette, LA, and Irene Johnlouis, of New Iberia, LA; 14 grandchildren, Shawn (St'Tanna) Johnlouis, Sr., Marquise, Tyreionna, Arvon, Mitchell, Aahmad, Latresha, DaQuan, Kelby, Myia, Jamarcus, Michael, and Aaron; four great-grandchildren, Shawn, Jr., Madison, Te'Darius, and Yasmine; four whom she raised as her own, Harry Johnlouis, Rachael Johnlouis, Amoni Williams, and Tyrik Williams; nine brothers and sisters, Fred G. Sereal, Celestine Johnlewis, Wilmer (Verna) Sereal, Laura Sereal, Benny Sereal, Larry Sereal, Michael Sereal, Willie Sereal, and Christine (Abraham) Mitchell; uncles and aunts, Paul Sereal, Sr., Levi (Emma Rae) Westley, Sr., and Louella (Raymond) Lumpkin; four godchildren, Christopher Johnlewis, Sr., Max Jeanlouis, Sr., Gregory Corsey, and Ron Westley; four special friends, Linda Schexnayder, Annette Hebert, Della Green, and Peggy Thomas; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilmer and Louise Wesley Sereal; two children, Mac Authur and Sharell LaShae Johnlouis; one brother, Wilford Robinson, Sr.; one sister, Sarah R. Hebert; father and mother-in-law, Harry and Irene Green Johnlouis, Sr.; two grandchildren; one godchild, Marshall Hebert III; two sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law.
