A Celebration of Life for George R. Freeman will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025, 11:00 AM, St. Paul UMC, 1405 Annie R. Moore Dr., Jeanerette, LA 70544. Pastor Darrel Briggs will officiate the service.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 9:00 AM until the commencement of the celebration at St. Paul UMC.
Mr. Freeman will be interred in Rising Sun Cemetery, Baker Street, Jeanerette, LA.
George Raymond Freeman was born on January 28, 1945, to George Freeman and Alma Robertson Freeman in Jeanerette, Louisiana. George Raymond Freeman was referred to by many as just Raymond or Ray. He departed this life on January 17, 2025, at the War Veterans Memorial Home in Reserve, LA where he resided since October of 2024.
Raymond was reared and educated in Jeanerette, LA, graduating from Francis M. Boley High School in 1962. Through his Christian upbringing, he was baptized at St. Paul United Methodist Church by the late Rev. P. M. Jones where he maintained his membership for over seventy years, currently serving under Rev. Darrel Briggs. He was a member of the Finance Committee and the Trustee Board.
After high school, Raymond joined the United States Navy serving his country from 1963-1969, earning two Bronze Stars during the Vietnam War. Upon his return he worked as an Electrician in various plants in California and Louisiana. He enjoyed reading, fitness and exercise, designer watches and cologne. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.
George Raymond Freeman was preceded in death by his parents, George and Alma Freeman; his only sister, Mary Lorraine Harding, brother-in-law, Herbert Harding; aunt, Mabel Berugh; uncle, Roland Berugh; and a nephew; Barry Harding.
To continue his legacy, he leaves his nephews: Dwayne (Monica) Harding, Donald Ray (Beverly) Harding; niece: Donna Maxine (Wendell) Bogan, a cousin raised as a brother, Virgil (Lena) Williams, his great nephews and nieces, many relatives and friends. He will live forever in the hearts and minds of his family, church family and dear friends.
