Gwendolyn Marie Stevenson was born on October 17, 1959 to Jerome Herbert Stevenson and Verdie Wells Mitchell. Gwen "as she was known" was a native of Franklin, LA and a resident of Baldwin, LA. She went home to be with the lord on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at 5:52 AM.
"Gwen" graduated from Franklin Senior High School in 1977. She attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana (ULL). Gwen was employed at various places in the community, however, her most esteemed role was that of a devoted and loving mother, daughter, and grandmother.
She was baptized at the age of eleven at New Providence Baptist Church in Centerville, LA under the leadership of Reverend Joseph Wells. Later in her adult life, she accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. In her daily life, she enjoyed reading her morning devotion and expressing love to her family and friends.
Memories will forever remain in the hearts of her mother, Verdie Wells Mitchell; fathers Jerome Herbert Stevenson and his wife (Jerry) of Lynwood, CA, and John Mitchell, Baldwin, LA; one daughter, A'shayla Hawkins of Baldwin, LA; two sons, Jason Mitchell of Washington, D.C., and Patrick Robertson of Baldwin, LA; one brother, Gary Stevenson and his wife (Melissa) of New Iberia, LA; four sisters, Mary Robertson and her husband (David) of Baldwin, LA, Wanda Hughes of Jeanerette, LA, Keisha Stevenson of Lynwood, CA, and Wanda Teno and her husband (Michael) of Four Corners, LA; one honorary sister, Deborah Stevenson of Baldwin, LA; one devoted and very best friend, Sherrise Collins of Baldwin, LA; one godson, Garius Stevenson of Lafayette, LA; seven grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and devoted friends.
Gwen was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents; Henry and Elosia Wells; paternal grandparents, Edgar and Ernestine Stevenson; Uncle Raymond Wells; Aunt Carol Stevenson Brown.
