Henry Steward, known affectionately as Huppy, passed away on March 15, 2024, leaving behind a legacy marked by bravery, generosity, and the profound impact he had on his family and friends.

Born on June 20, 1945, in Lafayette, Louisiana, to the late James Steward and Mary Miller-Steward, Henry embarked on a journey that would lead him from the small town of his youth to heroism in foreign lands and finally to a place he would call home for thirty years — Houston, Texas. His early life in Glencoe, Louisiana was marked by a dedication to his education, where he completed 10 years of schooling before answering the call of duty.

Henry's bravery was tested and proven on the battlefields of Vietnam after being inducted into the United States Army on January 15, 1969. Throughout his service, he distinguished himself as a soldier of courage and commitment, earning several commendations for his actions including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 device, Combat Infantry Badge, and the Army Commendation Medal.

After his honorable discharge, Henry settled in Houston, Texas, transforming it into his new home and community. He began a career as a welder with Brown and Root, where he dedicated many years of service until his retirement. Henry's life was further enriched when he moved to Beaumont, Tx.  On February 16, 2001, he married Audrey Watson, his partner who would remain steadfastly by his side until his passing.

Beyond his public service and professional accomplishments, Henry was a man of private passions and unwavering loyalty to his family and friends. An avid fan of the Houston Astros and Ford Trucks, he also cherished memories of playing for the Four Corners Clocks softball team. While Henry was considered the "cool" sibling, it was evident to all that his love for his family was profound and unending. He was a beacon of support for those seeking to escape the limitations of small-town life in Louisiana, offering them a fresh start in Houston. His generosity ensured that no one was without food or shelter, making an ineraseble  mark on the many lives he touched.

Henry is survived by his devoted wife Audrey, of Beaumont, Texas; three daughters including Ieasha Steward of Houston, Texas, Shatara Watson of Beaumont, Texas, Courtney Watson of Baytown, Texas;  six sons including Rodney Steward (LaKeitha) of Houston, Texas, Curtis Watson(Courtney)of Kingwood, Texas, TJ Watson (Brenda) of Houston, Texas and Eric Watson of Beaumont, Texas; Robert Watson of Pt.
