Howard was an advent believer in Jesus Christ, starting from an early age. He touched and changed many lives. Seeing that his community was changing and not for the good, he became an Evangelist in his hometown of Glencoe. He would get up early, extremely early in the morning hours walking miles and miles singing and praying for his community. With this calling for change he met a lot of adversities. People talked ill of him, threw things at him, and tried their best to physically hurt him. But God continued to see Howard through, to the ripe old age of 86 years. Howard's motto was "You have to pray long, loud, and hard to reach the people."
Howard was not educated, but he had a scholar of knowledge. He had to quit school at an early age, as recall elementary school to help his father work the fields. That's where he learned his trade as a farmer on the family's land.
