A Funeral Service will be held for Idella Wilson Lewis, 93 at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Israelite Divine Spiritual Church of Christ II in Jeanerette, LA with Pastor Jules Anderson, II officiating.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at Israelite Divine Spiritual Church of Christ II.
She will be interred in Sorrel Community Cemetery in Sorrel, LA.

On Monday, March 12, 2018 God called his earthly angel to ascend into Heaven and Idella earned her wings. He came to Idella's bedside and said it is time to come home to rest."
Sister Idella Wilson Lewis was born January 15, 1925 to the late Joseph and Julia Wilson of Four Corners. Sister Idella was united in Holy Matrimony with Clarence Lewis on November 27, 1943. To this union they were blessed to become parents of five daughters and five sons.
Sister Idella attended Four Corners Public School. She Confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. Bishop Julia Field, Pastor of Israelite Divine Spiritual Church I of New Orleans, LA in 1954. Sister Idella is revered as the "Mother Shepherd" of the church at Israelite Divine Spiritual Church II. Sister Idella was a devoted, faithful, dedicated, and loyal servant of God, and loved attending and serving in her church. Sister Idella attended church for at least 63 years under the leadership of the late Rev. Bishop Julia Field, Bishop Jules Anderson Jr., and Pastor Jules E. Anderson III until her illness prevented her from doing so.
Sister Idella's work history spans at least three decades. Sister Idella was an avid reader and loved gardening. As a young woman, she began working in the sugar cane field and continued to do so for approximately 25 years. She also worked as a housekeeper in which, she was trusted and highly regarded by the families she served for at least 15 years.
Sister Idella leaves to cherish her fond memories which includes five daughters: Joann Lewis, Shirley Conner, Maenell Lewis, Mrs. Yvonne Ware, Evelyn (Ronald) Chillis, four sons: Clarence (Shirley Mae), Lawrence, Leon (Sarah), and Michael (Roberta) Lewis of Four Corners, one sister, Peggy Williams of Orange, TX , and one sister-in-law, Dortha Wilson of Beaumont, TX, one brother-in-law Benjamin Francis of Houston, TX; twenty-one grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grand children; one devoted godchild, Cynthia Joe; also a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Sister Idella was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Julia Wilson; husband, Clarence Lewis Sr.; maternal grandparents, Kizzie and James Taylor; paternal grandmother, Idella Dyle; one son, Nelson Lewis; two grandsons, Ronald Chillis Jr., and Lawrence Smith; three brothers, Godfrey and Alfred Wilson, Luster Jackson three sisters, Shirley Mae Francis, Bernedette Richard and her husband John, Jerry Lee Manuel and her husband Stanley and one son-in-law, Sam Ware Jr.
Sister Idella was affectionately known by her family and friends as "Dell" or "Mother Shephard". Sleep on "Dell" take your rest, we loved you but God loved you best.
