On December 20, 1955, Jackie Bernard Key was born into the Key family. He was native of Jeanerette, La until his passing. He was baptized at an early age at St. Peter United Methodist Church in Jeanerette, La.
Jackie was educated in St. Mary Parish School System where he attended Mary Hines Elementary, and Franklin Senior High School. He went on to join the United States Army where he served a four-year tour of duty. Upon returning home, he was blessed with a son, Jackie Rhine.
Jackie was a people's person and he loved doing odd jobs for anyone who gave him the opportunity. In his retirement years, you could often find him on Main Street at the local barber shop washing cars. Jackie boasted about being able to wash cars sparkling clean without using soap. Everyone loved Jackie as he had such a kind and loving spirit.
He departed this life on August 27, 2022, and he joins in heavenly rest his parents, Gabriel Key, Sr. and Martha Gloria Alexander- Key; brothers, Gabriel Key, Jr., and Brady Lee; sister, Brenda Lee; brothers-in-law, Leroy Raymond, and Bryan Gibson, Sr.; nephews, Bryan "BJ" Gibson, Jr., Justin Key, Fitzgerald Marks; niece, Zabriel Green; maternal grandparents, Rev. King Alexander, Sr., and Josephine Alexander; paternal grandparents, Adolph Key, and Odelia Key.
Those left to cherish fond memories are his beloved son, Jackie (Rachita) Rhine; two granddaughters, Kaylyn Clark and Jardyn Rhine; two grandsons, Jaxon and Jirah Rhine all of Lake Charles,La; seven sisters, Linda Key, Marsha (Ronald) Ward, Sr., Majorie Nell Green, and Melanie Nelson all of Jeanerette, La, Cynthia Key-Gibson of Baldwin, La, Jacqueline (Ray) Gibson and Dewella Lee of Spring, TX; four brothers, Wayne Adolph (Kasey) Key, Kenneth (Faye) Lee, and Clayton (Louise) King of New Iberia, La, and Joseph Lee, Jr., of Spring, TX; a sister-in-law, Rev. Almeta Faye (Gabriel) Richards-Keys of Upper Marlboro, MD; aunts, Doris Key Stanton, Lou Myrtle Slaughter, Lou Mary Broussard, Josie (Walter) Breaux, all of Jeanerette, La; uncles, Allen Albert (Diane) Alexander, King Alexander, Jr., cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
