A Celebration of Life for Jacqueline McKnight, will be held Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 1:00 P.M. at Zion Chapel AME Church in Patterson, La.

Visitation will be Saturday, May 20, 2023, from 11:00 A.M. until the commencement of the celebration at Zion Chapel AME Church in Patterson, La.

Jacqueline will be interred at Ibert's Cemetery in Patterson, La.

Jaqueline Thedora Chapman McKnight was born on October 17, 1935, to the late Lester Chapman Sr. and Isabella Hart Chapman Powell.
She accepted Christ at an early age being baptized under the leadership of the late Rev LB Bennett at Good Hope Baptist Church in Patterson, LA. After graduating from Morgan City Colored High School (renamed Sumpter Williams), she moved to Chicago, Illinois.

Upon returning home to Patterson, she became a member of the St. Luke Baptist Church under the leadership of her stepfather, the late Rev BG Powell. While there, she was a member of the Usher Board and the Masonic Eastern Star. Many years later, she changed her membership to Zion Chapel AME Church where she remained a faithful member until illness forced her to not be able to attend physically.
Jacqueline loved to cook. She will be remembered for her stuffed manicotti pasta which was a hit with everyone, but she also had some misses when she'd cook tripe, chitterlings & pig feet. Those did not go over too well with her children! She was happy just being surrounded by her family and close friends and when happy, she had a smile that could light up the room.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Valeria (T-Val) Perry, but her memory will forever be cherished by her children Allison (late Edison) Paul of Patterson, LA, David McKnight (Phyllis) of Chattanooga, TN, Danny McKnight of Patterson, LA,  Donna McKnight Drayton of Kenner, LA, and Dionne (DeeDee) McKnight of Patterson, LA, brothers, Lester (Booty) Chapman Jr. of Patterson, LA, and Rev Fred Powell of Morgan City, LA  Grandchildren: Tia, Ashley, Delichia, Devar, and Breon and  Great-grandchildren: Yani, A'Jaysa, A'Jyron, and Zaelyn, nephew Patrick Perry of Houston, TX, Godchildren Tanisha Harvey, Lionel Stackhouse Jr, and Randy Vilo and a host of cousins and friends.
Her devoted friends, Carolyn Johnson, Rose Harvey, Doreceline (Dee) Brantley, Anna DeMahy, and bonus daughter, Cynthia Hilliard will also treasure her memory.
