John Bartley

A Celebration of Life for John Bartley, will be held Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Charenton, La.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 20, 2024 from 11:00 A.M. until the commencement of the celebration at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Charenton, La.

John will be interred at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Charenton, La.

On Tuesday, January 9, 2024, the Lord sent his angel to deliver John Walter Bartley to his eternal resting place. He was born in Adeline, La to the late Ernest Bartley, Jr. and Evelina Keal Bartley. He accepted Christ as his personal savior early in life and was baptized by the late Rev. Johnny Carr, Jr.

His education was attained through the St. Mary Parish School System. John was a welder and a pipefitter. His employment included Synpol Industries and other refinery in TX, St. Mary Iron work and Avondale in La. John joined the United States Army where he served in Vietnam.

He leaves to cherish his memories, two daughters, Sandra (Oren) Lumpkin of Lafayette, La and Debra (Leon) Hayes of Port Arthur, Tx; five daughters he helped rear as his own, Linda G. Johnson and Debbie L. Proctor of Port Arthur, TX, Diane Dennis of Groves, TX, Sheryl Whitfield of Bonwier, TX and Angela Polite of Norfolk, VA; four sisters, Enola Abraham of Baldwin, La, Cecile (Eric) Bartley, Joyce Keal of Charenton, La, and Jane Harding of Houston, TX; two brothers, Rufus Bartley of Charenton, LA and Darrell (Alberta) Bartley of Baldwin, La; five grandchildren, Nea Lumpkin, Kea Lumpkin, Jaquila Lumpkin, Amonti Edwards, and Leonie Hayes; two great grandchildren, Jayce and Ariya; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who realize that earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal.

John was preceded in death by his parents; Ernest and Evelina Bartley; two brothers, Wilfred Bartley, Sr. and Alfred Bartley, Sr.; one sister, Audrey Bartley Carter; four nephews, Wilfred Bartley, Jr., Peter Bartley, Damon Abraham, and Terry Abraham.
