Joseph "J.C." Hawkins

A Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph Hawkins will be held Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at Our Lady of Rosary Catholic Church in Jeanerette, LA. Mask will be required.

Joseph "J.C." Hawkins was born on November 6, 1944 in Port Barre, LA to the late Florence Jean Louis. As a young boy the family relocated to Charenton LA. Later he made Jeanerette, LA his home.

J.C. worked at the refinery for many years and later retired from Morton Salt. He then worked seasonal with Roland Hebert until his passing. He loved driving tractors. He was a loving and compassionate man.

J.C. was a faithful member of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Peter Claver Men Auxiliary Court #184.

On November 3, 2021, J.C. departed his earthly home to take his place in his heavenly one. He was preceded in death by his mother, Florence Jean Louis;three brothers, Joe Hawkins, William Hawkins and Herman Vilo, Jr.

The memories of J.C. will forever be imprinted in the hearts of his beloved family. His loving wife Mary Gail Hawkins of 35-years; two daughters,Vanessa "Net" Hawkins of Richmond, TX; and Roxanne (Rickie) Morrison of Fresno, TX; three sons, Bryan Hawkins; Darrius Hawkins both of Houston, TX; and Wardell Hawkins of Jeanerette, LA.

He also raised four sons, Gerard(Crystal) Broussard of Houston, TX; Kenny (Chiffonia) Broussard of Broussard, LA; Jovan Fontenot Sr. of Abbeville, LA; and Mc Kary Wayne Jackson of Baton Rouge, LA; one daughter, Samantha Fontenot of Abbeville, LA; bonus son, Michael (Angela) Richard of Houston, TX; one sister, Brenda Tillman (Evans Gibson Sr.) of Franklin,LA.; three god-kids, Michael Tillman of Baldwin, LA; Lakeisha Vincent of
Youngsville, LA; and Je'Shai Hypolite of Jeanerette, LA; (19) grandkids, (2)great-grandkids, a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
