Joseph Anthony "Joe" Clay

Funeral Service for Joseph "Joe" Clay will be held Saturday, July 21, 2018, 1:30 PM at First Jerusalem Baptist Church, Jeanerette, LA. Rev. A L Alexander will officiate the service.

Visitation will be Friday, July 20, 2018 at MK DIXON Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 PM and resume on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at First Jerusalem Baptist Church from 8:00 AM until the commencement of the funeral service.

He will be interred in Holy Family Mausoleum, New Iberia, LA.

Joseph "Joe" Clay was born January 1, 1963 to the union of Anderson Clay, Sr. and Sadie Clay of Jeanerette, La.

Joseph departed this life into his eternal rest in the Glory on July 14, 2018 after a great fight of faith. He was a graduate of Jeanerette Sr. High Class of 1982. He was employed at Dynamic Industries for over 20 years.

Joseph dedicated his life to the Lord at an early age. He was baptized at Morning Pilgrim under the Pastoral leadership of the late Reverend Joseph Clay.

Joe, as he was affectionately called, had many gifts and talents. Just to name a few of the many "Mr. Fix It" and "Bob the Builder". Joe built tables and chairs, tables and benches, sound systems, and so much more. Other hobbies included working in the yard, fixing lawn mowers, and repairing anything that needed fixing. He loved football. Auburn was his team, RIDE OR DIE… Auburn, in his eyes, was number one.

Joe will mostly be known for his love for God, his loving wife Carrie, children, grandchildren, family and anyone he came into contact with. Loving, caring, and faithful are just a few attributes to describe the man Joe was. To say he'll be missed is really an understatement. The void can't be described. Our hearts are aching but not without hope.

Left to cherish his memories is his wife of 32 years, Carry Clay. Two children: Dedrick Clay (Kimberly) of Youngsville, La and Marina Clay of Jeanerette, La. Along with Joenique Solco and Tavein Solco of Jeanerette, La who he raised as his very own. Four grandchildren: D'Myrie Clay, Aubrie Clay, Zaelynd Haney, and Jodie Solco. Six siblings: Laura Mae Johnson of Dallas, Texas, Anderson Clay, Jr. (Juanita) of New Iberia, Louisiana,  Alvin Clay (Toni) of Patterson, Louisiana,  Darrel Clay (Deidra) of New Iberia, Louisiana, Laura Dangerfield (Aaron, Sr) of Sorrell, Louisiana, Donovan JeanBaptiste (Sheila) of New Iberia, Louisiana; Brother-in-law: Barry Carroll (Felicia) of Jeanerette, Louisiana; Godchildren: Jaleesa Haney, Torie Hawk, Karynton Archangel, Christian Archangel, Bre'Yian Chatman, Kenze Marks, Dimonica Linzy, and Wy'Jerrell Lyons-Richard; Aunts: Norma Linzer, Julia Lewis (Thomas), and Lillie Bowie (Isaac) all of Jeanerette, Louisiana, Katie Volter (Elton), Ella Price (Kermit), and Doris Lewis (TC) all of Houston, Texas; Uncles: Donald McFarlin (Jewel) of Houston, Texas and Wyatt Carroll, Sr. (Thelma Rose) of Dallas, Texas; Host of Nieces and Nephews

Preceded in death by: Paternal grandparents, Whitney and Leotha Clay; Maternal grandparents: Henry and Mary Johnson; Siblings: Joyce Clay and Wilfred Paul Clay; Father-in-law and mother-in-law: Morris and Mary Ann Carroll; Sister-in-law Maronda C. Solco.
