Joseph Miller, Sr.

Funeral Service for Joseph Miller will be held Saturday, September 22, 2018, 12:00 Noon, at Triumph Baptist Church, Franklin, LA. Rev. Carl Lewis will officiate the service.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 22, 2018, from 9:00 AM until the commencement of the funeral service at Triumph Baptist Church.

Joseph Miller , Sr. departed his earthly home on Friday, Sept. 14, 2018, 12:55 pm at his residence in Franklin, Louisiana.  He was born in Franklin, Louisiana and raised on the Zokely to Cyrus Miller and Gladys Jones Miller on  August 14, 1944.

He was baptized at an early age at Triumph Baptist Church by Rev. Octave Vincent where he remained a faithful servant serving under the late Rev. Octave Vincent, the late Rev. Walter Moore, the late Rev. Clarence  Stewart, Sr., and currently under Rev. Carl F. Lewis, Sr.  Joe has served as Wednesday morning prayer leader, member of the TBC Male Chorus, member of the Brotherhood, and in his current position of Senior Deacon.  He has also led the Wednesday Nursing Home prayer at Franklin Health Care.

He was a 1962 graduate of Willow Street High School. Joe was a self taught Painter and later became a Quality Control Manager and worked in that capacity until his retirement from Twin Brothers.

Joe was a former member of the Nephilite serving as their King during Carnival Season and a member of the Franklin Carnival Association.  He was recognized by the Broussard Harris Black History Committee and he received rhe Laymen's Award from the Union Sixth District.

Joe will be remembered for his kindness and his willingness to serve others. Cherishing these fond memories, his devoted wife, Linda Vappie Miller, two sons: Derrick (Veronica) Miller of Maurice, LA and Ashlee Miller of Franklin, LA; nine grandchildren:  Ashlee "AJ" Miller, Jaylen Miller, Jace Miller, Jance Miller, Schyler Miller, Ashton Lewis,  Ashylon Miller, Haylee Miller and Ashyriah Miller: his sibling's children: Sherry Preston, Demetra Miller, Johnise Cross,  Nathan Ina, Jr., Mack Ina, Lionel Ina, Keith Ina, and Kendrick Ina. His godchildren: Loreal Jackson, Bridgette Jackson, Min. Kevin Roach, Devin Jones, Christopher Simmons and Dewellyn Howard. He will be missed by his church family, relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Cyrus and Gladys Miller, his siblings: John Miller and Norma Lee Ina
