A Celebration of Life for Joshua Hopes, Jr. will be held Saturday, September 30, 2023, at 1:00 P.M. at First Jerusalem Baptist Church in Jeanerette, La.
Visitation will be Saturday, September 30, 2023, from 12:00 P.M. until the commencement of the celebration at First Jerusalem Baptist Church in Jeanerette, La.
Joshua will be interred at Heavenly Rest Cemetery in Jeanerette, La.
Joshua Hopes, Jr. was born on January 15, 1964, to the union of Joshua Sr. and Mary Alice Hopes.
Joshua dedicated his work skills at Wilkerson for 20 plus years after the Port of Iberia closed. Joshua work spoke for him, he was a hard, dedicated, and phenomenal worker. Joshua captured so many hearts with how unique he was. He was never a person of drama and confusion. He loved to dance with his wife, we called him Brown when the dance moods came in you all never seen a dance performance as great until you see Brown and Baby girl perform their dance moves. He was the pitcher for Big H softball team & head pool leader for Ballers 8 Ball team.
Joshua Jr. leaves to mourn his wife, Gavetta; parents, Mary Alice and Joshua Hopes, Sr.; 12 children, Jaisha Loston (Travis), Claricca (Davod) Cormier, Gretchen Colar(Norris), Calmesha (Jared) Hilliard, Shelly (Jamion) Smith, Briante Edmond, Broderick Colar (Brittney), Harry Colar (Shaterra), Darius (Meghan) Colar, Jermaine Hopes, Josh (Sheanee) Hopes, and Rodney Hopes(Tangi), all of Jeanerette, La; seven sisters, Cynthia Shelton (Willie), Cassandra Hopes (Joshua), Sheila Sanford (Stephon) all of Baton Rouge, La; Jeanette Eugene, Benadette(LouLou) Francis, Tracy Joseph Butts, Alicia (Honore) Ayro, all of Jeanerette, La; two brothers, Jonathan (Sabriana) Hopes, Justin(Hillary) Hopes, all of Jeanerette, LA; 34 grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and coworkers; all of the married couples from the couples' trip especially Lakeisha and Mallory Navy.
He was proceeded in death by his paternal & maternal grandparents, Clarence Hopes, Sr. and Nellie Simon Hopes, Leola and Alex Cassimere; sister, Jennifer Hopes; nieces, Lakeitha Hopes, Destiny Tate, and Keisha Shelton.
