A Celebration of Life for Joyce Boatman will be held Saturday, February 11, 2023, at 1:00 P.M. at Greater St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church in Franklin, La.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 11, 2023, from 11:00 A.M. until the commencement of the celebration at Greater St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church in Franklin, La.
Joyce will be interred at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery in Charenton, La.
Joyce Marie Webber Boatman, passed away in her home after a brief illness.
Joyce was born on January 4, 1955 to the late Demerit Webber Rideaux and Calvin Watson Sr. in Franklin, LA. Joyce attended Park Avenue High School. She was employed at Jeanerette Mills and Franklin Nursing home for many years.
Joyce believed in God and accepted Christ at an early age. She was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church by Rev. Otis.
Joyce was married to Milton Ronnie Boatman and to this union two sons were born, Travis and Ronnie Boatman. She had a bonus daughter Latoya Hunt.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Milton Ronnie Boatman; sons, Travis and Ronnie Boatman of Franklin, LA. Other survivors included are seven grandchildren, T'haj Javon Boatman of Houston, TX, Traviaishala Boatman of Killeen, TX, Zani Boatman and Brycelon Hunt of Franklin, LA, Travis and Armani Jenkins of Dallas, TX, and Kameron Boatman of Lafayette, LA; Four sisters, Gail Smith (Ken) of Cade, LA, Debra Howard (Glen) of New Iberia, LA, Linda Williams (Howard) and Lucinda Harrell (Anthony) of Houma, LA. Joyce was also survived by four aunts, Barbara Ardoin, Wilda Howard, Ethel Webber of Bakertown, LA, and Carolyn Lightfoot of Baldwin, LA; three uncles, Ollie Webber of Charenton, LA, Gerald Webber of Franklin, LA and Allen Webber (Glenda) of St. Mary's, GA. Joyce had two special cousins, Patricia Jones Muse and Valerie Jones Cage of Austin, TX. She was also survived by her godchild, Vicky Burrell; three sisters-in-law, Violet Watson, Lois Jenkins, and Emma Small. also, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Joyce's greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her family, especially her first cousin, Valerie Cage and her Aunt Wilda Howard.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Demerit Rideaux and Calvin Watson, Sr., her siblings Wanda Watson Hilliard and Calvin "Kojac" Watson; her maternal grandparents, Alfred and Augustine Webber; her aunts, Pearl Webber DePass and Shirley Webber Chatman; her uncles, Riley and Ralfrie Webber; sisters-in-law, Betty Lester and Vivian Burrell; brother-in-law, Lee Boatman and niece Minerva Wiley.
