A Celebration of Life for Lawrence Larry Darnell, Sr. will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016, 1:00 PM at Special Providence Baptist Church, 814 Martin Luther King, Baldwin, LA. He will be buried in New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery, Patterson, LA. Rev Carl F. Lewis will officiate the service.
The family has requested that visitation be Saturday, May 28, 2016 from 9:00 AM until the time of service at Special Providence Baptist Church.
Lawrence Larry Darnell, Sr., was born on November 6, 1938, to the late Lawrence Darnell and Australia Gimms Darnell in Patterson, LA. He was reared by his paternal grandparents, Lee Darnell, Sr. and Bertha August Darnell. Lawrence departed this earthly life on Friday, May 20, 2016, at Iberia Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was 77 years old.
Left to cherish many wonderful memories is his wife Lamonica Caesar Darnell, Grand Marais, 10 daughters, Nevelyn (Norman) Alexander, Centerville, LA, Denise Richard, Thibodeaux, LA, Valerie (David) Landry, Houston, TX, Lawrenisha Darnell, Patterson, LA, Tempest (Whybray) Jackson, Patterson, LA, Andrea Darnell (Forest Hill), Beaumont, TX, Lethia Fanuiel, Galveston, TX, Damian Chisley, Raceland, LA, Shamberly Caesar (Michael Payton) Baldwin, LA, Ambernise White, Baldwin, LA, four sons, Brandon Scott, Patterson, LA, Lawrence (Ellen) Darnell, Patterson, LA, Lester Darnell, Seattle, WA, Antanious White, Baldwin, LA; four sisters Bettie Alexander, League City, TX, Linda (Danny) Montgomery, Galveston, TX, Jackie Miller, Jeanerette, LA, Carolyn Jack, Houston, TX; three brothers, Harry Irvin, Patterson, LA, Ronald Miller, Patterson, LA, Donald (Deidra) Miller, Morgan City, LA. He is also survived by 30 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, mother-in-law, Brenda Clark-Caesar, Baldwin, LA, father-in-law Larry (Rose) Caesar, Cairo, GA and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Raymond Darnell, Bernard Darnell, Clarence "4-Corners" Gimms; one sister, Catherine Thomas; and two grandsons, Jamie Stevenson, Michael Payton, Jr.
