Funeral services for Linda Fay Harris will be held Saturday, November 12, 2016, 1:00 PM, MK DIXON Funeral Home, 211 Main Street, Baldwin, La. Rev. Arnold Ray Joseph will conduct the services.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 12, 2016, from 11:00 AM until the commencement of the funeral service. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Ivy Beyond the Wall Ceremony at 12:30 PM at MK DIXON Funeral Home.
She will be buried in Sorrel Community Cemetery in Sorrel, LA.
Linda Fay Harris was born in Houston, Texas on November 13, 1952 to Nora Mae Jackson. After her birth, she was adopted by Oliver and Linda Harris and moved to Franklin, Louisiana; where she was reared. She departed this life on Friday, Nov. 4, 2016 in New Orleans, LA.
Linda Fay grew up in Franklin, her family attended Special Providence Baptist Church in Baldwin, LA She was a graduate of Franklin Senior High School and the University of Southwestern Louisiana where she became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.. Linda was a devoted member of Iota Eta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Sorority, and a member of the interest group that later became Phi Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Later she moved to Houston, TX and then to New Orleans, LA where she continued her work as a Substance Abuse Counselor and community servant.
While in New Orleans, she continued to serve her community, through her volunteer work with Angel Tree and through her church as a member of the Mt. Hermon Prison Ministry.
Linda's memories will be cherished by her biological siblings: Russell Jackson and Jacquline Jackson both of Houston, TX; her aunts and uncles: Ida Swan and Ernest (Mary) Jackson, of Port Arthur, TX, Blanche Charles and Cleveland (Amy) Jackson of Jeanerette, LA, one sister in law: Janice Alpough-Jackson; four god children, Delma Marshall, Kevin Haynes, Beant'e Beverly-Holmes and Jala Manuel; nieces, nephews, relatives, sorority sisters and friends.
She was preceded in death by her biological mother, her adopted parents and grandparents.
