Marian Theresa Tate Drexler was born on April 30, 1937 to Willie and Emily Johnson Tate, in Jeanerette, Louisiana. She was a faithful member of First Jerusalem Baptist Church for more than twenty years. During her working career, she was employed by J&L Industry, Junior Food Mart, Silver Fox, Cabot Corporation, and owner/operator of Mama's Place.

Marian was a loving, caring, and kind spirited person, known to all in the community as "Mama" and to all her nieces, nephews and close relatives as "Nanny". She loved to dance, eat crawfish and have one Miller Lite. Marian never refused anyone in need of anything. Presumably, that's why everyone called her "Mama".

Marian leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Kelvin Paul Drexler (Paula) of Baldwin, LA., Rickey James Drexler (Jamila) of New Iberia, LA. One daughter, Jennifer Star Drexler Cooks (William) of Lake Charles, LA., one Stepdaughter, Cassandra Goffney of Beaumont, Tx., two brothers, Clifton Tate (Janice), and Roy Tate both of Jeanerette, LA., two sisters, Barbara Alexander of New Iberia, LA and Gail Clark (Willie) of Jeanerette, LA., 3 brothers-in-law, 2 sisters-in-law, 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, 2 God children, and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and close friends.

On Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 4:10PM at her residence in New Iberia, God decided to call Marian Theresa Tate "Mama" Drexler home. She was surrounded by her family and loved ones. Marian was preceded in the Valley of Death by her parents, Willie Tate and Emily Johnson Tate, husband, Rivers Drexler Jr., two sisters, Willie Mae Smith, Shirley Ann Tate, two brothers, Albert Bernard Tate, Calvin Ray Tate, one grandson Darnell Levy, two brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law.

Final arrangements have been entrusted by MK Dixon Funeral Home, 337-940-9253, 211 Main Street, Baldwin, LA 70514.
