Mary (Earline) Martin was born on February 5, 1954, to the late Mary Dixon and David Smith in Baldwin,La. On January 8, 2026 she departed this life at the age of 71.

Earline, as she was affectionately known was the baby of 11 siblings. She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. She graduated from Franklin Sr. High in 1972. Shortly after Mary left Baldwin and moved to New Orleans, where she became a lifelong resident. Thereafter, Mary was employed at Charity Hospital and attended their Nursing program to become a Nurse Aide. She worked at Charity for over 30yrs, then retired after hurricane Katrina. There, she met an extended family of coworkers who became lifelong friends.

Mary was a longtime and devoted member of First Zion Baptist church, where she served as an Usher and church custodian. She was also a longtime member of the Zulu club Krewe of Induna. Being in the Zulu organization really influenced her character. In 2025 she was chosen to become one of the lieutenants of the Krewe of Induna. She enjoyed baking,cooking, family events, attending church, bible study, social events and most of All her Bingo. Bingo was her love/ hobby for many years. She would call it her second job. Mary touched many lives and warmed hearts. She enjoyed her life to the fullest, she would sing, dance, throw shade and make us laugh, she was the life of the party.

Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, sister,aunt, cousin and friend. Mary leaves behind to cherish her memories are three loving children; Russell (Monique) Martin, Sabrina (Phillip) Franklin and Jessie Cryer; five grandchildren Kortnee Martin, Edward Spencer, Angel and Jeremiah Franklin and Jessi Cryer. Her Longtime companion Henry Langlois. She leaves behind two sisters and one brother; Agnes Brown, Dolly Dixon and Charlie Martin and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Mary preceded in death by her parents Mary Dixon, David Smith, grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Martin, sisters; Cecile Abraham, Rosalie Connor, Bernice Burney, Lilly Martin, and Meryl A. Nelson, brothers; Leroy Jenkins, Roy Dixon, and David Martin

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 24, 2026, 10:00 AM, First Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor D. R. Berryhill, officiating.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 8:00 AM until the commencement of the service at First Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

She will be interred in Special Providence Baptist Church Cemetery, Baldwin, LA.
