A Celebration of Life for Mary Wagner will be held Saturday, March 27, 2021, at 1:00 P.M. at First Jerusalem Baptist Church, Rev. Arthur Alexander, in Jeanerette, LA. Rev. Kevin Jenkins will be officiating the services. Mask will be required.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 27, 2021, from 11:00 A.M. until the commencement of the celebration at First Jerusalem Baptist Church, in Jeanerette, LA.
Mary will be interred at Heavenly Rest Cemetery, in Jeanerette, LA.
Mary, a native and resident of Patoutville, LA, transitioned into God's loving arms on Friday, March 19,2021. Mary was born October 09, 1922, to the union of the late Wilson Wagner and the late Mary Paton. Mary accepted the Lord as her savior and became a member of the deaconess board at Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Patoutville, LA. Mary was a housekeeper throughout the community most of her life. Family and friends affectionately called her "Ms. Mae, Auntie Mae, Mawmaw or just mama." Mary will be remembered for her beautiful smile, compassion towards others, and her deep love for others. Many was impatience until Sunday or the next family gathering because everyone wanted a plate of "real soul food", a slice of her homemade cake from scratch, teacakes, or even a piece of her delicious pecan candy. Aside from tending to family and friends, Mary, enjoyed doing what she called "a little of" baking, crossword puzzles, and watching "Wheel of Fortune" her favorite TV show.
Mary leaves a legacy of faith, love, compassion, and kindness that will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Those left to cherish her memory is her son, Henry (Wendy) Alexis, of Patoutville, LA, her three daughters, Bessie(Wilbur) Morris, of San Francisco, CA, Linda Simon, of Jennings, LA, and Ethel (Johnnie) Louis, of Jeanerette, LA, her sister, Ella Wagner- Dixon, of San Antonio, TX, also a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncle, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson Wagner and Mary Paton, her former husbands', Edward Williams, Sr., and Cleveland Alexis, her daughter, Idell Theodile Williams, her son Edward "EJ" Williams, Jr., her sisters, Felecia Mitchell, Louise Clay, and Martha Henderson, one infant brother, son- in- law, Danny Simon, brother- in- law, Herman Dixon, and an infant great- grandchild.
