Melveola Francis Guy

A Celebration of Life for Melveola Guy, will be held Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Franklin, La.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 22, 2023, from 9:00 A.M. until the commencement of the celebration at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Franklin, La.

Melveola will be interred at Nazarene Baptist Church Cemetery in Verdunville, La.

Melveola "Olay" Guy departed from their earthly home and transcended to her heavenly home on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at her residence in Franklin, LA. Melveola Guy was born to the late James Francis and Melvina Williams Francis on April 20, 1930. Melveola was the oldest of two children. She was baptized at an early age at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

She married the late Wilbert Guy and to this union, six children were born. She graduated from Franklin Negro High School and also attended school in Oakland, Ca. Melveola worked at West Brothers department store, Wormser's department store, Collections, and as a private seamstress for many years.

Melveola loved her family and would greet everyone she met with a smile. She leaves to mourn, one daughter, Paulette Guy Layton (Lawrence Layton Jr.); one son, Wilbert Tyrone Guy (Dorothy Thomas Guy); one daughter-in-law, Gwendolyn Guy; two sons-in-law, Gerald Carter and Johnny Butler; two special nieces, Cheryl Guy Lewis and Nikobianne Williams; two special cousins, Tracy and Dominic Henry; two close friends, Mary Carr and Amanda Lee Phillips; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Melveola was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Guy Sr.; parents, James and Melvina Francis; three daughters, Vallerie Guy Carter, Constance Guy Butler, and Iris Guy Spain; one son, Pastor Darrell W. Guy Sr.; parents, James and Melvina Francis; one brother, Ralph Joseph Williams Sr.
