Melvin "Sonny Boy" Brent

A Celebration of Life for Melvin Brent, will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2020, 2:00 PM at MK Dixon Funeral Home, 211 Main St. Baldwin, LA.
Visitation will be held Saturday, October 31, 2020, from 12:00 PM until the commencement of the funeral service with the Rev. Carl Lewis, officiating.
Internment will be held at Greater New Hope Baptist Church, Baldwin, LA.
Melvin Brent, affectionately known as "Sonny Boy," was born on July 21, 1950. He passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at the age of 70.
Melvin Brent was baptized by the late Rev. Johnny Carr at an early age on Lacy Plantation. He was a faithful worker at Patterson Truck Line and Tidewater Offshore Corp.
Melvin is survived by two sisters; Merlene (William) Brent-Payton of Sorrell, LA.and Leona Brent of Baldwin, LA. Two brothers; Norris Brent and Clyde (Flora) Brent both of Baldwin, LA. He leaves a host of nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews and cousins.
He was proceeded in death by his father, Jessie Brent Sr.; his mother, Jessie Mary Washington- Brent; two sisters, his twin Mercede Brent and Dora Brent-Navy; four brothers, Jessie Brent Jr., Charles Brent Sr., Forest Brent, and Calvin Brent Sr.
