Michael Joseph Lofton, the only son of Michael Wayne and Paulette Madison Lofton, was born on March 24, 1999, in Lafayette, LA. MJ, as he was affectionately called by his family and friends, departed this life and ascended to heaven on September 13, 2025.
MJ was baptized at a very early age by Pastor Paul J. Godfrey at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. While attending Mt. Pleasant, he participated in Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, and other church activities.
MJ was a 2017 graduate of Franklin Senior High School. While in high school, he was involved in the agriculture and theater clubs. He loved building the sets for the school plays and other events held by the school. MJ had a passion for anything technical.
He developed a love for video games very early in his life. He kept that passion throughout his life. This love of playing video games led him to pursue a professional career as a Video Game Developer with a focus on computer programming and design.
MJ attended Nicholls State University in the fall of 2017 and majored in Computer Information Systems. Immediately after earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in May 2021 from Nicholls, MJ enrolled in the Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE) located in Lafayette, LA. In December 2023, he earned an Associate of Occupational Studies in Game Programming from AIE.
MJ was a very genuine, kindhearted, loving, and easygoing young man. He never raised his voice to anyone, no matter how rude or mean the other person was to him. He loved his family and friends and would do anything for them. MJ had a great sense of humor. His laughter alone was so infectious that you couldn't help but laugh right along with him.
MJ loved life, family, and friends, but most importantly, he loved God. His impact on everyone in his life is profound. The loss of his presence in the world runs very deep among his family and friends.
