A Celebration of Life for Michelle Gibson-Brown will be held Saturday, April 11, 2026, 11:00 AM at Special Providence Baptist Church, Baldwin, LA. Rev. Billy Reaux will officiate the service
Visitation will be Saturday, April 11, 2026, 9:00 AM until the commencement of the celebration at Special Providence Baptist Church, Baldwin, LA.
Michelle will be interred in Special Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.
Michelle Gibson-Brown, was born on April 24, 1964, to the late James Bellard, Sr. and Mercedes Gibson at Lafayette General Hospital in Lafayette, LA.
Michelle was baptized at an early age at ByFaith Missionary Baptist Church by the late, Rev. Eddie Lee Ford. She later became a member of First Asia Baptist Church in Meraux, LA, under Pastor Carlton Campbell, Sr. She later joined New Orleans Triumph under Rev. Ronnie Crockett until her death. She graduated from Alfred Lawless High School.
Michelle’s mom moved to New Orleans when she was five years old. Michelle and her nine siblings grew up on Forstall and Prieur St.
Michelle mothered five children, Latoshia, the late Lee Gibson, Sr., Lichelle, Johnell, Jonquil; four bonus children, Emelda, Durell, CB, and Kisha.
Michelle was happily married to Calvin Brown, Sr. for 26 years!
She leaves cherished memories with her devoted husband Calvin Brown Sr.; mother, Mercedes Gibson; bonus mother, Agnes Bellard; six daughters, Latoshia (Elmore) Lockett, Lichelle (Noble) Ruffin, Johnell (Neal) Gibson, Jonquil (Travis) Gibson, Emelda Matthews, and Kisha Bell; two sons, Durell Green, Sr., Calvin (Shemer) Brown, Jr.; two aunts, Mable Williams and Delores Gibson; grandchildren, Janeshia Gibson, Jasani Scott, Nori Songy, Kennedi Crawford, Kenneth Crawford, lll, Cameron Gibson, J’Lioney Gibson, Tremell Gibson, Princess Gibson, No’real Ruffin, Ayana Carter, Lee Gibson, Jr., Kendralle Jones, Kendall Jones, Monet Turner, Elmore Turner, Jr., Makai Turner, Lynell McElveen-Miller, Durell Green, Jr., Katelyn Green, and Diamond Brown; great grandchildren, Joe Johnson, Jr., Journee Johnson, Nailah Miller, Naija Miller, and Janiya Miller; godchildren, Earl Simon Vincent, IV and Jasmine Kache’ Davis; siblings, Cindy (Douglas) Tillman, Roland Lockett, Matthew (Jean) Gibson, James (Kimberlyn) Gibson, Sr, Debra (Darrin) Wilson, Sharon and Lynette Gibson, Kenneth (Della) Bellard, Wendell (Lisa) Bellard, Brenda (Floyd) Bellard-Parker, Laura and Bernard Bellard, Terrance and Torrance Ballet, Dana Stansbury, and Jasmine Webb; best friend, Paulette Preston; host of other family members, and friends.
She’s preceded in death by her son Lee Gibson, Sr.; dad, James Bellard, Sr.; maternal and paternal grandparents; two brothers, Terrance Gibson and James Bellard, Jr.; three sisters, Mattie Gibson, Janice Wiggins, Angela Jones; host of other family members.
