A Celebration of Life for Oshaun "Dooda" Smith, will be held Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Greater New Hope Baptist Church in Baldwin, LA.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 12:00 PM until the commencement of the celebration at Greater New Hope Baptist Church in Baldwin, LA.

Oshaun will be interred at Heavenly Rest Cemetery in Jeanerette, LA.

Oshaun Javon "Dooda" Smith, was born on January 5, 2003, to Demetra Smith and Rodney Jack, Sr. He was the youngest child of Demetra Smith with an older sister and older brother. He departed this earthly life on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, due to a senseless act of gun violence.

Oshaun Javon, accepted Christ as an early age at Our Lady of Rosary Catholic Church in Jeanerette, LA. Demetra ensured that her children were brought up in church, something instilled in her.

Oshaun attended school at Jeanerette Head Start, Jeanerette Elementary and B. E. Boudreaux. He is a 2021 graduate of West St. Mary High School. Having a passion for sports at a young age Oshaun played football with the Iberia Youth Football League (Broncos), AAU basketball (Extreme Hoops) and continued to play basketball at the middle and high school levels at West St. Mary High School.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories, his parents, Demetra Smith (significant other Eric Metz) and Rodney Jack, Sr. (Charlotte) of New Iberia, LA; three sisters, Oshanae Smith of Omaha, Nebraska, Ronea Jack of New Iberia, LA, and Nakia Sophus of New York; three brothers, Oshay Phillips of Jeanerette, LA, Jynsen Jack of Breaux Bridge, LA, and Rodney Jack, Jr. of New Iberia, LA; grandparent, Gwendolyn "Gwen" Jack of New Iberia, LA; bonus grandmother, JoAnn Sophus of New Iberia, LA; four nieces, Mulani, Kenzlee, Kyland, and Ka' saiyaa; one nephew, Krsitan; god parents, Byron Smith, Chandra Johnson, and Deidre Bowie; aunts and uncles, Wayne (Detria) Smith, Allena (Alfred) Price, Darlene (Wilton) Gibson, James Smith, Lisa (Paul) Richard, Byron (Felicia) Smith, Warren (Laura) Smith, Kenneth (Lisa) Smith, Dr. Samona Smith (Wrenwick) Drexler, Willie (Angela) Smith, Jonathon Smith, Tina, Letha, Ray (Angela) Jack Jr. Francie (Steve) Sterling, Erica, Pam and Renee Jack.
