Precious Lyons

A Memorial Service will be held for Precious Lyons, on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at MK Dixon Funeral Home in Baldwin, La.

The family will begin receiving attendees on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 1:00 P.M. at MK Dixon Funeral Home in Baldwin, La.

A time to be born… On October 25,1978, a beautiful baby girl was born to Edward James Lyons, Sr., and Debra Marie Jacko Lyons. They named her, Precious Chevan Lyons. Precious accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized under the leadership of the late Rev. Johnny Carr at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Charenton, La. Precious loved to sing and served in the Youth Choir.

A time to plant… Precious graduated from Franklin Sr. High School in May 1996. She then went on to attend Southern University on a full scholarship. She later transferred to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette receiving a degree in Criminal Justice in 2005. She received her master's degree from the University of Phoenix in 2007. Some of her jobs included; a teacher at St. Mary Parish School Board, a head start teacher at St. Mary & Vermillion Headstart Program, an information specialist at Southwest Louisiana Education and Referral Center, and a program consultant at Premier Community Services where she worked until the decline of her health.

A time to harvest… Precious was a proud mother to her only child, Aysha Quinnae Mahathay, whom she loved dearly and was her greatest joy. She enjoyed the pleasures of motherhood in raising her daughter. Precious was also known for her witty sense of humor, kindness, and intellect. She never met a stranger, and if you wanted to liven the party up, just make sure that Precious was there.

A time to die… On September 20, 2023, Precious Chevan Lyons was called from earthly labor to eternal rest. She is preceded in death by her mother, Debra Marie Jacko Lyons; brother, Edward James Lyons, Jr.; maternal grandparents, Willie W. Jacko, Sr., and Alma L. Jacko; paternal grandparents, Eddie "Pink" Lyons, Sr., and Emma E. Lyons; uncles, Eddie "June" Lyons, and Willie W. Jacko, Jr.

A time to weep and a time to laugh… Precious leaves to cherish her legacy, her beautiful daughter, Aysha Q. Mahathay; her father, Edward James "Jimmy" Lyons, Sr.; sister, Beonka Anderson (Hideo Hanlon); aunts, Doris Jacko Polite and Loretta Ann Lyons; uncles, Kenneth "Kenny" Jacko and Ronald "Ray" Lyons (Paula); two best friends, Tamikda Harris Loston and D'Angela Mitchell; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
