A Celebration of Life for Raymond "LaLa" Lockett will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 1:00 P.M. at MK Dixon Funeral Home in Baldwin, La.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 6, 2023, from 11:00 A.M. until the commencement of the celebration at MK Dixon Funeral Home in Baldwin, La.
Raymond will be interred at Our Lady of Rosary Cemetery in Jeanerette, La.
Raymond Lee "LaLa" Lockett, a native of Four Corners, La was born on October 25,1944, to the late Louis Lockett, Jr. and the late Leola Jacque Lockett. Raymond was a graduate of Willow Street High School in Franklin, La. After graduating high school Raymond took up a trade in construction.
Raymond accepted Christ at an early age. He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Four Corners, La.
Raymond was united in Holy Matrimony to Martha Lee Hogan and to this union, two children were born. Later in life Raymond met and became a companion to Anita Davis of Charenton, La.
Raymond was employed at a construction company for over 20 years in Donaldsonville, La where he would later retire. After retirement Raymond began to plant the most beautiful plants and vegetables gardens in Charenton. Raymond was mostly known for the okra that he would plant and practically give away to family and friends. He always had a love for wild games as well. Raccoon and rabbits were his favorites.
Raymond was very well known for the joy that he would always share with his closest friends and family with an infectious laugh that would automatically make you laugh, it was so distinguished. He loved everyone and everyone loved him, and he always had a joke or two.
Raymond(LaLa) earthly journey ended April 22, 2023, leaving to cherish his life: one daughter, Monica Lockett(Wesley) Lively of Jeanerette, La; four stepdaughters, Angela (Ronnie) Miles of Lafayette, La, Sheila Hogan of Washington, DC, Anna Davis of Memphis, TN, Elizabeth (Carl) Armstead of Port Arthur, TX, and Tashia N'icto(Ernie) of Oceanside, CA, one step son, Alex Wayne Abraham, Sr. of Houma, La; seven grandsons, special grandson, Brandon "Poppiee" Lively; eight granddaughters; 14 great grandchildren; one goddaughter, Paula Jefferson of Columbus, GA; one godson, Micheal Charles; one sister, Dorothy Lockett Prevost of Oakland, CA; two brothers, Louis Lockett, Jr. of Jeanerette, La, Lionel(Arlene) Lockett of Four Corners, La; one god sister, Mary Colbert; one god brother, Alvin Colbert, Jr.
Raymond was proceded in death by; his first born daughter, Denise Lockett; his parents, Louis and Leola Lockett, Sr.; sisters, Rose Lockett, Cashmiere, Rita Lockett Cooper, Ruby Lockett Sweat, Elizabeth Lockett Williams, Savannah Lockett Bing, Aldonia Lockett Charles, and Evelyn Lockett Rhodes.
