Robert Bryant, Jr. was born on March 10, 1933, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sr. and Clara B. Bryant in St. Joseph, LA around Tallulah, LA.

He worked for T.L. James Construction Company for 35 years before he retired at the age of 62 years old. After a short retirement, he went to work part time for St. Mary Parish Government as a ferry operator in the Roads department on the Avoca Island in Morgan City, LA. He worked there for 12 years.

Robert passed away peacefully at his home on the morning of March 3, 2025, at the age of 91 years old (eight day before his 92nd birthday).

He was married to Betty Jean Robinson-Bryant on July 2, 1983 for 42 wonderful years and lived in Bakertown, LA. Robert suffered with Dementia for many years before his passing.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Bryant; three daughters, Clara B. Gipson, and Phyllis Bryant of Seattle, Washington, Carolyn Bryant of New Orleans, LA; two sisters, Annette Pilgrin of Compton, CA and Betty Ray Straughter of Los Angeles, CA; one brother, John Bryant of Baton Rouge, LA; one son, Matthew Robinson of Franklin, LA ( who he raised from the age of 9 years old); 16 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren; faithful brother and sister in law, Margarette and David Moore, III (who sat with him on many occasions); a very good friend, Kemper Darnell, Jr.; a host of relatives and friends.

He was proceeded in death by his parents; sisters, Thelma Johnson, Lillian Walker, and Ernie L. Jones; brothers, Rev. Douglas Bryant Sr., Melvin Bryant, and Quincy Bryant; daughters, Deborah Ford; sons, Reginald Bryant, and Robert Berchel Bryant.

Rob (as he was so well known) was not much of a church going man for most of our marriage, but he was a believer in God and he always treated everyone with kindness. We prayed often even up to his last day here. I loved him as a friend as well as a husband and committed to the vows "in sickness and in health, until death do us apart" -Betty.
