Ruth Brooks

A Celebration of Life for Ruth Brooks will be held Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at First Apostolic Church in Jeanerette, Louisiana. Mask will be required.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 11:00 A.M. until the commencement of the celebration at First Apostolic Church.

Ruth will be interred at Franklin Cemetery in Franklin, Louisiana.

Ruth Marie Thomas Brooks resident of Patterson, La, was born on June 30, 1959. She was called to her eternal rest on December 30, 2022.

Sis. Ruth attended First Apostolic Church of New Iberia where she loved attending when her health permitted. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved spoiling them with candy and toys. She was always known for helping those in need and the love she showed when any of her family was hurt or hurting. She also enjoyed spending time with family talking on the phone. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She leaves in God's care, her eight children; Tomika (Manuel,Sr.) Willis of Patterson , La; Dorothy (Ronald, Sr.) Conley of New Iberia, La; Edna (Dwayne) Walker of New Iberia, La; Shenek Brooks of Lafayette, La; Charletha Brooks(Aljias Benjamin) of Lafayette, La; Latoya (Rocky) Blaze of New Iberia, La; Edward(Chessteen) Brooks, Jr. also of New Iberia, La; Abigail Brooks (Greg Ruiz) of Jeanerette, La; 25 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; her siblings, Milton Thomas, Lester Thomas, Lillie Freeman, Ella Thomas, and Dianne Guy; brothers in law, Curtis Brooks, Sr. (Delores), Keith Mack (Katina); sisters in law, Linda (Charlie) Williams, Sandra Mack, Brenda Mack, Barbara Mack, and Kathy Mack, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Edward Brooks, Sr.; her mother, Johnnie Bell Kelly; her father Lloyd Thomas; and one brother, Shawn Thomas.
