Sanders Burney Sr. was born on March 17,1931 to the late Columbus and Gertrude Burney in Baldwin, La. Sanders was called from labor to reward on March 13. 2020. He was affectionately called "Duckhead" by his family and friends. Sanders received Jesus Christ as his Savior at an early age, and he recently reaffirmed that commitment. He was united in holy matrimony to Josephine Armstead and was blessed with four wonderful children.
In his early years he attended the St. Mary Parish Public School System. He started working at a young age and he was always considered a hard worker, but when he became a crane operator, he knew that was his calling. He was great at it, and he knew it. Sanders took such great pride in being a crane operator for many years. He also took pride in being a cross country truck driver. He loved his family, his friends, and enjoyed having a good time and didn't mind going hunting for rabbit.
Those left to cherish the memories made with Sanders include his three sons, Sanders Burney Jr., Barry Burney and Troy Burney and one daughter, Cynthia Burney; brothers, Don C (Gwendolyn) Burney, Ronald (Roslyn) Burney, Michael (Lois) Burney; sisters Lucille Martin, Delores Hayes, Menthola (Billy) Alexis, Marva Richard, Betty Mouton, and Doris Owens; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, one daughter in law, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, maternal grandparents, paternal grandparents, and one sister Verna Burney.
